Ontario's Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Lisa MacLeod shared details on the Province's plan for social assistance reform on Thursday, announcing a broad framework and principles rather than a full implementation plan.

senco's TRACTION GRANT offer $500 - $5,000 to individuals and organizations looking to explore a social enterprise idea or initiative. Funds can be used for feasibility, testing, piloting or prototyping of a new social enterprise idea, product or service. senco's TRACTION GRANT provides early stage funding so that social entrepreneurs can gain momentum or traction through creative economic experimentation in the growing sector of social enterprise.
senco's TRACTION GRANT will be open for submission throughout 2019 and reviewed by one of seven localized Social Enterprise Sector Development Groups (SESDGs) supporting social enterprise development across Central Ontario. Please help us advertise the WDG Childhood Experiences Survey by sharing posts on social media (Facebook , Twitter , Instagram) or email anna.vanderlaan@wdgpublichealth.ca to request promotional materials that you can hand out in your offices.
 
This survey is open to any adults (18+) living in Wellington, Dufferin and Guelph. At this time the survey is only available electronically and in English.All participants will receive a $10 grocery store gift card as a token of thanks.
 
The survey has been out for less than a week already we have some fascinating data about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and resilience in our community. We are looking forward to sharing our results with community partners like you!

We're talking about weed - new cannabis information campaign launched!
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has launched a cannabis information campaign to provide youth and adults with information about the health effects of cannabis use, ways to reduce health risks, and links to local resources and support. The campaign features a series of seven short videos, four aimed at youth and three aimed at adults and parents

Celebrating artists, community and FWD!
 
We all know that community is important - not just being physically present, but contributing.  Community is a place where we are appreciated for the gifts, skills, and ideas that only we can bring.
FWD put out the call to local artists asking for submissions that reflect what community means to them.  The results are amazing!  Jay S. Lefler Rosenberg, Nathan Gatten and Sarah Henry-Godfrey all shared their creations about community, showcasing themes of interdependence, contribution,
beauty and individuality.

MoveItOn......facilitating the movement of surplus workplace supplies for participating agencies of DC MOVES
 
what's acceptable:
  • functional workplace furniture i.e chairs, desks, filing cabinets, shelves
  • useable disposable supplies i.e. file folders, binders, printer cartridges
  • excess workplace equipment i.e. copiers, printers, lamps, phones

how to move it:

  • you identify surplus workplace supplies
  • you access against the above parameters 
  • you contact Habitat for Humanity ReStore Orangeville to arrange pick up
  • ReStore picks up and holds the supplies
  • you notify DC MOVES Coordinator with supply list for publishing in  What's on the MOVES

We provide Emergency Shelter Assistance, One unit Transitional apartment, Emergency Food Assistance, clothing and household items assistance, spiritual support, and children's programs for women, Special events and activities.
