The best way to fight the flu is with a flu vaccination. National Influenza Vaccination Week is a great time to remind your patients, colleagues, friends and family that a flu vaccine can help keep them healthy this season. Vaccination is especially important for people at greater risk of developing serious flu complications, including young children, pregnant women, adults over 65, and people with chronic health conditions
Upper Coastal Plain COG Recognized for College Grant Partnerships


Stuart Bass, regional planner for the Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments, receives a 2018 Innovation Award from Doug Elliott, President of the National Association of Development Organizations. The local regional council was honored for its partnerships with community colleges in Wilson, Nash and Halifax counties.

Costs: $125.00

This course is a basic overview of local government finance and budgets in North Carolina. It is not a debit and credit accounting course, nor does it assume that you have formal accounting education or experience. You will learn the basic job functions that are typically housed in the finance department, with attention to those found in smaller governments.

State Convening Scheduled

A Statewide convening and workshop will be held on December 13, 2018 at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh from 8:30 am-4:30 pm.  

The convening will share the most current Opportunity Zone information, provide details on how the program can be leveraged, and help communities consider ways that they can develop an investment prospectus.
