Considered by many to be one of the most charming musicals ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy that premiered in 1964 and continues to have very successful revivals on Broadway.

With music written by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick both of Fiddler on the Roof fame and based on the book by Joe Masteroff who wrote Cabaret, She Loves Me is of similar quality script and musical score.

Set in a 1930s European perfumery, shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper and they live for the love letters that they receive. The identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves... and of all the twists and turns along the way!

She Loves Me - FCT's Holiday Musical
She Loves Me showcases a talented cast playing a range of memorable characters with beautiful costumes and on an impressive set. This heartwarming story inspired the films The Shop Around the Corner and You've Got Mail.

She Loves Me follows two "lonely hearts," Georg Nowack (Aaron Talley of Big Fish) and Amalia Balash (Ivy Elizabeth, Always, Patsy Cline and Secret Garden). A turn of events finds them as feuding co-workers in Mr. Maraczeck's (Eric Trumbull, Deathtrap) shop along with the dapper womanizer, Steven Kodaly (Cristian Bustillos, Secret Garden), the wise-cracking, sexy Ilona Ritter (Hannah Neville, Much Ado About Nothing), faithful family man, Ladislav Sipos (John Downes, Secret Garden) and dedicated delivery boy, Arpad (Timothy Burhouse).

The cast of eighteen highlights a talented and energetic ensemble which includes such FCT notables as Cheryl Bolt and Madeline Fanta (both from Steel Magnolias), Hilary and Scott Pierce (most recently seen in Big Fish), Carleigh Hopkins (Legally Blonde), as well as Camden Gillespie and Gene Bates (Secret Garden.) Newcomers to FCT include Ben Bowers, Konstantin Langenberg, Christie Dubnansky, and Jennifer Rodriguez.

The production is directed by Diane King, vocal direction by Ivy Elizabeth, choreography of Laura Crowne, and produced by Laurie Bersack. She Loves Me promises to be a spectacular fun evening for the family. Director Diane King remarks "When I discovered this gem of a show, I knew I had to share it with FCT's audiences.  It is simply too brilliant to be kept hidden. It will be a bright spot in holiday activities!"  The musical is sponsored by NOVEC and with permission by Music Theatre International.

The Story: Sibling rivalry, adultery, and dungeons - The Lion in Winter, by James Goldman, is a modern-day classic. Comedic in tone, dramatic in action - the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family, who are locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry's paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, "Every family has its ups and downs," and this royal family is no exception. The Lion in Winter 1968 film was based on the Broadway play and included Peter O'Toole, Katharine Hepburn, John Castle, Anthony Hopkins, and Timothy Dalton in the coveted roles, earning three Academy Awards.

As You Like It is one of Shakespeare's best loved comedies. The most recognizable line from the play begins "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances..." vocalizes the character Jaques in the play. In casting the show, Director Maggie Bausch sought people "who can sing, dance, or play a musical instrument because this is one of the most musical of Shakespeare's works" she excitedly remarks. The show is being produced by Don Richardson, a longtime volunteer with many years of experience at FCT both on stage and off stage.

Mr. Baxley graduated from Hume Elementary School, Warrenton High School and Virginia Military Institute (Class of 1951), where he majored in civil engineering and land surveying.
