Sunday Worship at the First United Methodist Church of Eugene
We hope to see you tomorrow morning at 9am or 11am for worship at the First United Methodist Church of Eugene! We will celebrate Holy Communion in both services this Sunday.

Join us at 10am for book groups in the chapel and in room 19, diving into our Advent study of Brian McLaren's "We Make the Road by Walking." We still have a couple of copies of the book if you haven't gotten yours yet, and they are available for $12. Our Bishop, Rev. Elaine Stanovsky, and her team have made some great resources available to the conference as we work with this book together. You can explore those by clicking here.

Our scripture reading this Sunday is Zechariah’s prophecy from the Gospel of Luke, and you can check it out by clicking here . As we start the Advent season together, we remember that the Christmas story begins with a prophecy. A hopeful word, that as bad as things get, God is at work, often through us, to bring light to the darkness. As bad as things get, we must remain anchored by and in a way of peace.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the stories of Mary and Joseph and what they have to offer us today - all the while drawing closer to the fun and beautiful worship you have come to expect from Christmas Eve at the First United Methodist Church of Eugene.

It really can be the most wonderful time of the year. I remain so grateful to be counted among you pastors. God bless you and keep you!
~ Pastor Adam
Children & Youth this Sunday!
Both of our Sunday morning worship services include Godly Play for ages 4 - 12.

Youth group with Wendy will meet at 10am

Our Ring / Sing / Serve program will meet at 10:15am in Room 16 for Christmas Eve pageant preparation :)

Then at 4:00pm come back for our Advent Festival! We will have time for you and your family to create tools to center us through the four weeks of Advent, focusing your reflection time on hope, love, joy, and peace. You and your family can come to create an Advent wreath, nativity scene, and a devotional that will help guide you through this season.
Sunday Morning Men's Group!
The men's group is meeting tomorrow at 8:00am!

This is a great group of guys, and they are particularly good at welcoming first-timers - oh, and they always have great coffee! They meet in the church library!
Creative Ways to Give!
On your green sheets Sunday you will see this image! It is a QR code, and if you have a smart phone, its camera will recognize its unique pattern, and direct you to our giving website! It is a great way to give to the church if you find yourself without a checkbook on Sunday morning! Let the church office know if you have any questions!
Holiday Wreath Pickup!
If you ordered a wreath from Mujeres Luchadoras Progresistas (Women Fighting for Progress), they will be available for pick up in the Fellowship Hall!
Conference-wide Study in December!
This December we have a really incredible resource that is informing our ministry together - a great book by Brian McLaren, “We Make the Road by Walking.”

We have some great Advent reading groups coming together to explore this book together. Right now, we have groups forming up:

  • Tuesday evenings
  • Thursday mornings
  • Sundays at 10am
  • Sundays at 5pm

Our hope is that these groups will be permeable - one week it may work out for you to join the Tuesday evening group, but another week it may work better for you to attend the Sunday discussion.

All are welcome!
Come Restore at Noisette!
In December the Restore group is reading the Brian McLaren book, "We Make the Road by Walking!"

This Sunday at 5pm we will meet up for some discussion at Noisette Cafe, a short walk from the church, at the corner of Broadway and Charnelton.

You can always find upcoming opportunities to Restore on our MeetUp site, by clicking here.
