Last Saturday the Oregon Sportsmen's Caucus and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife held a youth fishing derby on the State Capitol Mall. It was a fun event that allowed kids under 17 to fish in stocked pools. Many volunteers were there alongside the kids to help them through the whole process.
There was an amazing turnout at this event with over 500 people showing up! Many kids got to learn how to catch, gut, and cook their own fish. There was also a display on insects found in the habitats where fish live.
