RCP Presents: A Christmas Carol Readers' Theatre

The Riverside Community Players are back again this year to perform a readers' theatre of Dickens's holiday classic, A Christmas Carol! This is our store's fan-favorite event of the holiday season, so be sure to reserve your seats early!
A Very Merry Drag Queen Story Hour
Saturday, December 15 at 11 am

Happy Holidays! We hope you'll join us for a special holiday Drag Queen Story Hour. 

Our local guest queens - Athena Kills, Scalene Onixxx, and Kelly K - are returning to read some of our favorite holiday books. This special storytime is appropriate for children, usually between the ages of 3-8; toddlers and babies are still welcome!

This storytime is ticketed; the price of a ticket admits one family (parents and children included). All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Trevor Project.

Sunday, December 16 at 3 pm

We're incredibly pleased to welcome local author Dan Bernstein for a reading and signing of his new book, Justice in Plain Sight: How a Small-Town Newspaper and Its Unlikely Lawyer Opened America's Courtrooms. 

Bernstein, a retired reporter, editorial writer, and columnist for the Press-Enterprise, chronicles the true story of Riverside's hometown newspaper and the two Supreme Court cases it won in favor of public access to the judicial process. It's a unique story in which the stakes were as high as they could be (and still are): the public's trust in its own government.

Great authors are coming to Cellar Door Books in 2019!

Mark your calendars! We have some incredible authors visiting us next year: 

In January, Isabel Quintero is back, in conversation with Rocio Carlos and Rachel McKleod Kaminar. Then, Chris Eliopoulos returns with the newest Ordinary People Change the World installment, followed by Greg van Eekhout for Voyage of the Dogs, in February. The writers of the local cuisine cookbook Urban Foragers will be here in March.  We're in talks with Yangsze Choo and her publicity team for an event in spring, so keep your eyes peeled! We're also excited to welcome Ben Clanton, author of the Narwhal and Jelly series, this spring. Finally, we're pleased to have local author Liz Harmer for the release of her book The Amateur in April. (Yes, this is the Liz Harmer who helped organize the Riverside Women's March two years ago, so be sure to come out and support!)
