Greetings!
Summer is usually a time of planning and preparation at CFGC as we review our programs and services as well as prepare for our annual signature fundraiser, the Starfish Benefit. However, 2020 has proven to require ongoing adaptation as we continue to learn how to navigate our new normal.
Please take a few minutes to catch up with us and see how we are keeping up with the changes and adjustments while we continue to serve hurting Texoma children and families.

CFGC is Here to Serve Our Community Virtually!
The safety of our clients and staff are our top priority. Due to the increased risk of COVID-19, CFGC will continue to provide outpatient mental healthcare through telehealth. We offer free counseling for those who are uninsured or underinsured.
Free counseling and support services available for:
- Grayson County & Fannin County Residents: uninsured or underinsured and meeting low income guidelines*.
- Free TeleSupport: a one-time phone call or video chat. It’s a way to access a caring voice in your time of need. The TeleSupport Program is not a crisis hotline or a replacement for mental healthcare. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911 or go to your local emergency room.
*Low income levels are determined by the federal U.S. Poverty Guidelines and HUD Income Guidelines.
In addition to free services, CFGC accepts Medicaid, CHIP and most private insurance.

What Do Children Need Most From Parents Right Now?
by Suzanne Degges-White Ph.D.
Helping kids cope with the pandemic and the changes it has caused in daily life isn’t as easy as parents might like.
Children of any age may be fearful that they or their loved ones may die from COVID-19. The death toll is something that can be found on any television channel and is discussed regularly by well-meaning adults. Adults can help address these fears by talking about how children can help keep themselves safe (hygiene, social distancing) and how adults are working hard to keep them safe.

Parent Support Group
Now Offered at CFGC!
Parenting is a hard and overwhelming job in the best of circumstances. For all of the joy and wonder that comes with being a parent there is also a lot of self-doubt, fear, guilt, shame, uncertainty, and loneliness. Parents need support and to know that they are not alone in their struggles.
The Child & Family Guidance Center of Texoma’s Parent Support Group is held via Zoom on Thursdays at 5:30 PM. The purpose of this group is to provide a safe place for parents to share their struggles and successes in parenthood as well as identify areas where they need advice or assistance while receiving feedback in a positive and respectful manner. Happy Thoughts
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
