Doral Chamber & International Tax Advisors Tax Planning Seminar

Are you paying too much taxes?

Learn the basics of tax planning and strategy, don’t overpay your 2018 taxes. This Seminar will provide specific tax planning concepts, particularly how to react to the changes effective for 2018 under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Topics included:

  1. What is double taxation or two-layers of tax, and how can you avoid it?
  2. How does the type of entity chosen (e.g., LLC vs. S-Corp. vs. C-Corp) change how much tax you owe?
  3. Domestic tax concepts: 20% deduction for pass-through entities under section 199A; employee savings programs; tax deferred retirement planning; and state and local tax considerations.
  4. International tax concepts: tax treaties; benefits for exporters such as Interest Charge – Domestic International Sales Corporations (IC-DISC); foreign tax credits; and offshore/onshore tax planning.

Individuals and business owners are welcome.  Come with any tax questions you have.

Speaker:

Drew R. Edwards

Drew R. Edwards is the managing owner of International Tax Advisors, Inc. (ITA), a full-service accounting firm focused on tax planning and strategy. Specializing in international tax structuring, real estate transactions, and tax incentives and credits.

As a CPA with more than 13 years of tax consulting experience, Mr. Edwards spent the majority of his career working within the “Big 4” accounting firms, most recently as a Senior Manager with KPMG.  Mr. Edwards combines constant research and continuing education with a deep knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, to bring clients tailored tax solutions in easy-to-understand financial models.

Two reasons Mr. Edwards enjoys tax consulting: (1) learning tax laws and then putting the pieces together to save money is exciting; and (2) he is forever fascinated by capitalism and entrepreneurship and loves working with all types of businesses through accounting.

After growing up in Coral Springs, FL, and attending undergraduate (Accounting) and graduate school (Master of Accounting) at the University of Florida, Mr. Edwards began his career in Manhattan at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2005.  NYC gave Mr. Edwards a strong set of core tax skills and a hardened work ethic, but the sunshine state and family was calling.  In 2013, Mr. Edwards moved back to Florida and continued working within the Big 4 accounting firms.  Mr. Edwards founded ITA during 2017.

Outside of accounting, Mr. Edwards is a part-time inventor with several provisional patents and a utility patent for a special-purpose boat cover.  Mr. Edwards is also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing and backcountry camping with his two small children.
