Go Polish or go home!
The
32nd Polski Dzien will be held Friday and Saturday in Bremond. The fun kicks off Friday night at 6 pm with a variety of food and craft vendors, beauty pageant, BBQ Cook-Off check-in, and tunes by accordionist Mason Nesvadba. Mark Halata & Texavia will play from 8-11 pm and provide the music for the 2nd Annual Polka and Waltz Dance contest, sponsored by Texas Polka News. Come out and show off your polka and waltzing skills.
This year the festival is honoring the Groholski Family. The Groholskis own and operate one of the oldest business in Bremond, famous for their Polish sausage. Folks from all over coming home for a visit rarely leave town without stopping by to see Mrs. Helen and pick up sausage to take home with them. Stop by their store and watch the 42 tournament and have a sausage wrap or take some home!
Saturday starts with the Famous 5K Polish Pickle Run at 8 am. Opening ceremonies begin at 10 am downtown with state and local dignitaries. Polish representatives are expected to attend. Mizephski will sing the Polish National Anthem. One of the highlights of the festival is the Polish Parade at 11 am hosted by Bremond local, Denis Kubiak. Watch for the Bremond High School Class of 1967 Reunion as the alumni ride in the parade in classic hot rods!
The Polish Wawel Dancers from the Houston area will perform following the parade and then more live musical entertainment all day on the Main Street Stage, including performances by the Jagoda Polish Folk dancers, Mason Nesvadba, The Moravians from Ennis, Jim Mazurkiewicz & Friends, and more! Inside the White Eagle Music Hall, you will find Master Fiddler Brian Marshall & Friends performing. Brian says his friends will include Tim Walsh (original Brave Combo member) on clarient.
It's an unbelievable display of color, pageantry, and happiness. The Saturday Night Street Dance will open at 7:30 pm with country music by the Gordon Collier Band starting at 8:30 pm.

WEEKLY LAUGH
In a Detroit church one Sunday morning, a preacher said, "Anyone with special needs who wants to be prayed over, please come forward to the front by the altar."
With that, Leroy got in line, and when it was his turn, the preacher asked,
"
Leroy, what do you want me to pray about for you?"
Leroy replied, "Preacher, I need you to pray for help with my hearing."
The preacher put one finger of one hand on Leroy's ear, placed his other hand on top of Leroy's head, and then prayed and prayed and prayed. He prayed a "blue streak" for Leroy, and the whole congregation joined in with great enthusiasm.
After a few minutes, the preacher removed his hands, stood back and asked,
"Leroy, how is your hearing now?"
Leroy answered, " I don't know. It ain't 'til Thursday."
