A new historical exhibit by the  Lake Wales Museum about one community's preservation, perseverance, and philanthropy.

This is the the story of Mountain Lake Estates, one of the oldest private golf and estate communities in the country, located in Lake Wales, Florida.

The exhibit will feature stories, photographs and original documents that h ighlight the development of Mountain Lake, stories about its founder, Frederick Ruth, the lifestyle of its residents and members, philanthropic contributions to the community, and the preservation of century old  homes and architectural designs.  Artifacts on display are on loan from  the Mountain Lake archives, and items from the museum's permanent collection. The exhibit was developed by the museum's curator, Bartholomew Delcamp and director, Jennifer D'hollander.

Payment of lost or damaged materials is not accepted with a food donation.

All donations will benefit the Lake Wales Care Center's Holiday Food Baskets and Food Pantry.  For a recommended list of items needed for the Holiday Food Basket call or visit the Lake Wales Public Library, 678-4004, extension 221.

LW Library Association - Friends of the Library's   Annual Giving Tree Program

Each holiday season the LWLA - Friends of the Library hosts The Giving Tree, a holiday tree covered with 'ornaments' listing titles of books and materials the Lake Wales Public Library would like to add to their collection.  For a donation of $15 a children or teen's book can be selected, $20 provides fund to add an adult book.  Consider this tax deductible way to help the library add to their materials.  Select a book in honor of, or in memory of a loved one.  The Giving Tree will remain in the Library's front lobby through the end of December.
