Calling all Compassionate  and
Activated Peacebuilders

We stand together.

We come to you in solidarity, Dear Brothers and Sisters of Peace! We call upon you to remember who you are - no matter where you are and what you are doing, you are a pathway to Peace! We stand with those of you who are suffering with illness, loss, and fear - we hear you! We recognize that Covid-19 is shedding light on who we are as whole humans, our strengths, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities. It is not defined by labels, boundaries, and definitions. It expands our mindset. Through our shared experience, we discover our interconnectedness.

As we rise to a new day, every day, we are learning a new way of being and new ways of relating to one another. As whole human beings, we carry and express the whole range of human emotions - joy and sorrow, delight and despair, resilience, and powerlessness. Allowing ourselves the unique opportunity to learn and grow is a gift in this new and shared experience. It prompts our creativity as we seek ways to pursue our purpose and find meaning in our actions when "business as usual" no longer works.

As we step into deeper levels of personal meaning, we may discover that we are a little kinder, a little more loving, a little more authentic, a little more of who we are intended to be. In these times, nurturing our inner Peace becomes a survival technique and a tool for greater compassion and unity. We are once again reminded that Peace is an inside job. Today, we hope to share with you some ways that we have been inspired, and some opportunities for us to engage in actions that build a Culture of Peace. Thank you for being a part of the Pathways To Peace community!

#MyMaskisForYou Initiative
Taking unified action overcomes powerless and isolation by acting to make a difference - and building community while we are sheltering in place.

Pathways To Peace is teaming up with our partner, Deborah Greene, known as "The Peace Traveler," to ignite a cultural shift that unifies us in purposeful work that builds community.

#MyMaskisForYou provides information on how to make masks (sewers and non-sewers, with or without elastic.) We also wish to highlight and share the stories of how communities are responding to this critical need. Working together - neighbor to neighbor, local government, and health care professionals alike, we hope everyone will join in the fun, and together, we can take action to build a Culture of Peace.

Here's how to get involved:

1. Please contact us so we can spotlight your efforts and connect to those in need at  [email protected]

2.  Share the message!! We have many meme's you can share on our FB Page and on  www.MyMaskisForYou.orgwhich will be live tomorrow with inspiring stories of action and "how to's" for creating Community Masks-Making Coalitions.

We see this action as a tenant of building a Culture of Peace. It is acting to protect the whole through a unified and loving response to the needs of our local and global neighbors.

Let's send a unified message to our world: We Got You!

The Peace Pocket Project
Do you feel called to be a Peace Walker?

The launch of The Peace Pocket Project aligns with the crucial need for a shift in consciousness to match the unprecedented global challenges of our times, as we come face to face with our interdependency and vulnerabilities. These stones, Guangdong Tektites, bring the power to unite humanity in oneness, harmful to none, through accountability and responsibility, to meet the urgent global call for the Rebirth of Peace.

We invite you to join us.

As the year 2020 began, a spontaneous group gathered, inspired to fashion a way for passing along 1,000 stones known as "Emissaries of Peace" to 1,000 members of humanity. The people carrying these stones become Peace Walkers.

The stones are Tektite, formed when a meteorite impacted the earth hundreds of years ago. Today, these stones are a voice for change in a time of extreme need. The stones spoke first to us, and we listened. It's time now for the stones to call others who can also hear and respond. Together, we will create a new Peace. The time is now, are you ready to become a Peace Walker?

Peace through Random Acts of Kindness
In difficult times, it's important to feel hopeful, to find joy, and to be inspired.

Our friend and colleague Irene Kai made a sign, and she brought that sign into the places that she frequented while on "shelter in place orders." Her random act of kindness made us smile, inspired us, and we wanted more!

Would you please send us the random acts of kindness that have inspired you, along with a photo or video, if you have it? You can email your story to [email protected]

We'll be sharing those stories in our upcoming newsletter and social media. We look forward to being inspired!

The UN CSW64 that Didn't Happen ... or Did it?
Unprecedented and prophetic action by United Nations leadership

On February 28th, the 64th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW64), held at the United Nations in New York City, was canceled due to the threat of the coronavirus. We are grateful for UN leadership that recognized and acted upon what was in the best interest of the safety and health of all global citizens. In solidarity with people around the world, we held compassionate

An outstanding group of PTP UN Delegates

The Pathways To Peace (PTP) delegates were prepped and excited to be attending what, for several of them, would be their first trip to the United Nations. This year's delegation truly reflected PTP's commitment to representing talented peacebuilders across generations and cultures. Through the recruitment and orientation process, delegates became familiar with and dedicated to PTP and the work it does. So, while we wish we could have provided a unique and enlightening global experience to our PTP CSW64 Delegates, we know we have developed life-long partnerships with gifted and powerful Peacebuilders that are dedicated to local and global Peacebuilding.

The PTP UN CSW64 Side Event: The show must go on

When CSW64 was canceled, it left PTP with a decision to make. Months had gone into planning the PTP Side Event that had been selected by the UN CSW64 organizers for presentation at CSW64. It was a presentation that we were passionate about and felt was relevant for our global audience. So instead of throwing in the towel, we moved our side event into a virtual format. "Peaceful and Inclusive Societies through Technology" was presented via zoom on March 18th, 2020.

The presentation featured Peacebuilding technologies (as presented by the amazing Deborah Greene), along with next-generation Peacebuilders sharing stories of how technology has enabled global organizing, education, and healing. We reinforced the importance of an integrated intergenerational approach to Peacebuilding and technology as a tool to support it. In addition to Deborah Greene, Peace Traveler, our exceptional panelists included Jennifer Mauro, Rinor Jani, Sajani Patel, and Karen Nortz. Following are some presenter quotes:

"Learning about how different generations are using technology to help them during this pandemic and in life, in general, is truly inspiring. It helps me realize technology's full potential in this changing world."
-          Karen Nortz, PTP UN Youth Representative, and Mater Dei Prep Global Leader

"I was asked to present on "Technology for all Generations," which couldn't be more relevant than it is today. In these times of COVID-19 and stay-at-home orders, it's more important than ever to make sure those of all ages are receiving reliable, critical news and information. Using different mediums allows us to reach every age group - from youth to the elderly. It was an honor to present with Pathways To Peace. I was among a group of intelligent and talented peacemakers. With topics spanning gender equality and ageism to technology and nuclear disarmament, the presenters - of all ages - proved that change can be made by working together as a community and sharing ideas in a respectful way."
-          Jennifer Mauro, The Monitor Magazine, Diocese of Trenton, N.J.

"At this point in humanity, we need every hand, heart, brain, and body to unify in peaceful essence. This especially applies to people of all stages of life. Immense gratitude is held for the inter-generational welcoming and inclusion in our dialogue on Peacebuilding through technology. It is refreshing to see this in action through our time and work together."
-          Rinor Jani, PTP UN Youth Representative, Peace Educator, and Activist

"As students and youth, we aren't asked to voice our own opinions much and stand up for our beliefs. We are usually told to follow without question. This presentation allowed me to see the power that a young voice can have. I'm so glad that organizations such as Pathways To Peace and Nuclear Age Peace Foundation prioritize inclusivity and youth involvement. We are the voices of the future, how will we speak then, if we aren't taught or allowed to speak up now?"
-          Sajani Patel, Nuclear Disarmament Educator, and Activist

About Pathways To Peace and the Culture of Peace Initiative

Incorporated in 1983, Pathways to Peace (PTP) is an international organization dedicated to making Peace a practical reality in our world today. PTP is an official Peace Messenger of the United Nations and has Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. PTP works locally and globally, inter-generationally and multi-culturally, to promote Peacebuilding, Peace education, and to collaborate with other organizations in initiatives that help further the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI).

With participants from around the world, the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI) is a cooperative local-global Peacebuilding Initiative uniting the strengths of organizations, networks, projects and people to realize a Culture of Peace for the Common Good. The CPI also serves as a vehicle for bringing to light many previously unseen and unheard Peacebuilders working along diverse paths, who are embodying the emerging Culture of Peace within Humanity.  The annual highlight of the Culture of Peace Initiative is the International Day of Peace, which provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and nations to work together, on a shared date, to create practical acts of Peace with a year-round impact.

About the International Day of Peace

An annual focus for PTP is the International Day of Peace (Peace Day), held annually on September 21st. Pathways To Peace has worked with the UN to observe and promote the International Day of Peace since its inception in 1981 and has grown International Day of Peace from a single event of a few hundred people into an annual global observance that now reaches hundreds of millions of people. The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.  http://internationaldayofpeace.org
