Recycle Your Oyster Shells
Are you planning to host an oyster roast for your holiday guests? If so, please consider recycling your oyster shells to help with reef rehabilitation.

Did you know: Though South Carolina waters produce thousands of bushels of oysters a year, only 10% of South Carolina harvested oyster shells are recycled and put back into our waters (SCDNR, 2011). By recycling oyster shells at your event, you can help promote oyster growth, establish habitat and support local, commercial shellfish harvesting.

Click HERE to learn about how you can easily recycle shells leftover from your holiday parties and events.

Art on the Half Shell- Now Accepting Submissions
The Town of Mount Pleasant is accepting submissions for its new Art on the Half Shell project, which will feature four-foot fiberglass oyster sculptures painted by local artists. Presented by the Town's Culture, Arts and Pride Commission, this project will debut with five sculptures at Memorial Waterfront Park. The goal is to feature the art throughout town as an additional way to foster community pride through the arts while also promoting local artists and Mount Pleasant's unique creative community.
