First Semester Final Exams and Exam Exemptions
Schedule and Exemption Policy and Procedures

Final Exam Exemption request window closes today at 4:00 pm, no exceptions.

First Semester Final Exam Exemption Incentive:
Cambridge High School's Final Exam Exemption Incentive can be found at www.cambridgehs.org, About, Academics. Students must meet all qualifications of the exemption policy at the time they make their exemption request. Requests will be made through the Final Exam Exemption Request form at www.cambridgehs.org. The exemption request window will close at 4:00 pm, today.  Students who are approved for a final exam exemption will be notified by their teachers (for the exam they have requested to exempt) on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

In addition, students must obtain parent/guardian approval to exempt any final. If a signed parent form is not received, a student is not qualified for exemption and will not be approved. Parent permission can be completed in one of the following three ways:
  1. Complete the permission form electronically using ZippSlipp by 4:00 pm, today,
  2. Download a permission form from our website, sign and return to the Cambridge front office before 4:00 pm, today, or
  3. Pick up a paper copy at the Cambridge front office, sign and return before 4:00 pm, today.
Students are expected to maintain their qualification for exempting a final exam through the final exam period. If at any time a student no longer qualifies, he/she will be notified by their teacher or administrator and may not exempt the final exam(s). The final exam exemption incentive includes the following qualifications:
  • Five or fewer absences (excused and unexcused) per semester, in the class a student wishes to exempt the final exam
  • OSS counts toward absences
  • Average ≥ 70, in the class the student wishes to exempt
  • Only one absence from GROWL for the year (9th grade)
  • Students who exceed five absences can still exempt with an average of 90 or above in the class they wish to exempt

Late Check-in Guidelines - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:
The first exam periods on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (December 18-20) are also lunch periods. During lunch periods, students who have lunch will remain in the cafeteria and will use the time to study for final exams.

Your student may arrive late rather than attend during his/her lunch period. If your student is arriving late on one of the half-day final exam days, he/she must arrive by 10:35 am. Students arriving late will remain in the cafeteria until it is time to move to the 10:40 am exam. Students riding in carpool must enter through the cafeteria doors on the north side of the building (facing Kings Ridge). Student drivers must enter through the cafeteria doors. Do not drop your student off at the front doors as they will be directed to the cafeteria side entrance. Students cannot be in the academic halls during testing.

Missed Exams:
Students are expected to be present and on time on all testing days. If a student must miss a final exam due to illness, the parent/guardian must call the Attendance Office on the day of the absence in order for the student to take his/her exam on the make-up days. If the Attendance Office is not alerted, the absence will be considered unexcused.

All other missed exams must receive prior approval by the student's grade-level administrator. To obtain approval the parent/guardian should email the administrator by Friday, December 14. Please include the date(s) to be missed, the subject name(s), the teacher name(s), and the reason for the missed exam.
Makeup exams will take place in the Student Center and will occur on:
  • Thursday, January 3, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
  • Friday, January 4, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

    * Last exam must begin at 2:00 pm
Checking Students Out:
Students will not be allowed to check out while exams are in progress. Classrooms cannot be disturbed, and students will not be allowed in the academic halls. For a student to check out prior to the end of the day, please have your student bring a note to the Attendance Office at the beginning of the school day. Due to the volume, the Attendance Office cannot accept emails or phone calls at check-out time.

The Winter Solstice Tree is Back
Deadline is Friday, December 7
Again this year Cambridge is teaming up with Fulton County DFACS to give gift cards to teenagers who are in foster care.  Often teens are the "forgotten ones" on holiday lists as they aren't easy to shop for and aren't the first picked from an angel tree or they receive a leftover gift intended for an eight-year-old.

Last year we raised over $2600 in gift cards and beat Milton, John's Creek and Roswell...COMBINED!!  This year we are looking to go even bigger and retain our status.

For those interested in participating (teachers, students, parents):  Just stop by Mr. Schuler's room (2801) and pick up a solstice tree from his back wall and return it with your gift card (either in a gift bag or wrapped in a small box) by Friday, December 7, 2018.

If you have any questions, you make contact Mr. Schuler at [email protected]
Let's beat last year's total.

"Got Sneakers?"

Would you like to help your students get food outside of school if they don't have enough at home?

To ensure that students on free/reduced lunch continue to have food over the upcoming holiday breaks, please consider utilizing the  FoodFinder   platform, which was   founded by a Georgia pu blic-school student .

Student ID Policy
School Safety and Security Plan
CTCT-20181103_171712
As part of our safety and security plan, we are implementing a policy such that all students must wear an ID at all times. IDs should be worn around the neck and visible. By requiring all staff, students, and visitors have some identification on them at all times; we can better ensure that the people in our building, should be in our building. We ask that all parents and guardians help us in this safety measure by ensuring that your student has his/her ID on them each day.

If your student has not received his/her ID, please have them see Ms. Leathers in the Front Office.
Please note that if a student loses his/her ID, it will cost $5 to replace the ID and if a student loses their ID and lanyard, it will cost $10 to replace all items.
