Come and experience the St Luke’s sanctuary as an oasis of peace and quiet in the midst of our busy, noisy world. 45 minutes of readings, music and silence for reflection. The readings (read by Barclay McMillan) are a mixture of poetry and prose, and are not necessarily religious, but are chosen as "food for thought". The music (played by The Reverend Victoria Scott) is offered with a view to creating a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. Free will offering. More information at 613-235-3416 or www.stlukesottawa.ca
COMMUNITY GARDEN WORKSHOP
Friday, June 28th
10 am, The Well

The Well has acquired a community garden at City Hall, hosted by Just Food! Ten raised beds are being installed ready for planting at the beginning of July. As it is late in the season, this year will be a pilot project in preparation for a full season in 2020. Produce that can be used in The Well's canning/pickling project will be grown and people who help in the garden will also be able to take excess produce home. We will also look at whether there is space for individuals to have their own allocated patch of garden. Two staff coordinators will supervise volunteer gardeners. Each volunteer will sign an agreement about the gardening rules and processes.  If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know!

Just Food run a series of workshops for their community gardeners and the first one will be held next week. www.justfood.ca Please join us in this exciting venture!

FINANCIAL UPDATE
Thank you so much for your contributions to
St John's! Our ministry could simply not happen without your donations, which remain generous and steady. Currently, we have a $5,000-$10,000 shortfall each month in our operating budget, as forecasted at Vestry. If you are going on summer vacation, please consider making your donation before you go, rather than catching up afterwards, as this will help our cash flow situation. Again, thank you!

Curious about ways you can donate? You can find information on the web: www.stjohnsottawa.com/donate
WINE TASTING THANKS
Thanks to an amazing team effort, support from sponsors, and the attendance of more than 70 parishioners and visitors, last month's Wine Tasting event raised $1,824 for St John's ministries. In addition, the Refugee Assistance Group collected more than $400 in donations, plus a few new volunteers. If you get a chance, please thank and support our donating businesses: Little Red Wagon Winery, Wine Rack, Massine's Your Independent Grocer, Art-Is-In Bakery, Sobeys, and Flat Rock Cellars.
Kindly send any comments or suggestions to Kathleen to help us create an even more successful event next time. Kathleen
Lastly, we have some extra wine glasses embossed with "St John's - Where doors and hearts are open" for $5. Just email Adrian or Wendy if you are interested in buying one or more. Adrian or Wendy
