Dee will share his inspiring life story with our students next week where he will encourage them to focus on their resilience. At two months old, Dee was placed in foster care. By the time he was 12, he had been in 12 different foster homes. He believed that no one cared about him, until he received a call from a college sponsorship program. Their persistence changed his view on life and helped him see that there were people in the world who cared.
He went on to graduate from California State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. His mission is to show every student that they have a chance at a successful future...no matter their background. He speaks to thousands of students a year. Dee inspires students to be resilient by changing their perspective on failure. He does this by sharing his story of resilience, along with his daughter's fight to beat cancer. Life throws curve-balls, but even curve-balls can be hit for home runs!
I am confident that everyone is off to a good start in the second semester.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, school counselor, grade level principal, or me with any questions throughout the remainder of the year.
