Advent Week 1: HOPE
Sunday, December 2nd, 2018
"Never Lose Hope"
11am, Rev. Anne Tabor

Many of us have lived through times of despair when it felt like enduring the seemingly impassable road ahead was unbearable. And yet, we come through it because of the unconditional love of the closest people around us and, of course, our pets! Desmond Tutu said, "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." That light is the glimmer of truth that no matter how dire things look or how long healing takes, we have every reason to never lose hope. Join Rev. Anne for our first week of Advent as we begin to prepare for the birth of the Christ within us all.
Book Study -
The Art of Abundance:
Ten Rules for a Prosperous Life
by Dennis Merritt Jones
Final Session will be Tuesday, December 4th - Garden Lane Center
7pm - 9pm
Rev. Anne Tabor

Rev. Anne will lead this four-week book study to go along with her four-part Sunday talk series based on Dennis Merritt Jones' new book,  The Art of Abundance.

We all essentially want the same things: freedom, inner peace, and a life filled with purpose and meaning. This is true whether we're striving for better health, financial abundance, a stronger relationship, or a new job. Dennis Merritt
Jones explains that a life of wholeness and direction are well within our reach.

In The Art of Abundance, Jones offers a road map to draw us away from our comfort zones to truly see new perspectives of prosperity. His theme of constant encouragement inspires a greater flow of natural goodness in all areas of our lives and motivates us to live our best lives yet.

Jones teaches that moving from a life of "not enough" to "more than enough" isn't as challenging as you may think! Our book study will explore and practice these ten rules and help you discover a "Whole" new life!

Suggested Love Offering: $15/class.

Use your UofA  AmazonSmile option to purchase the required book by clicking here.

Sign up sheet will be in the foyer of the sanctuary.
Advent Week 2: PEACE
Sunday, December 9th, 2018
"Peace Is The Path"
11am, Rev. Anne Tabor

Mahatma Gandhi said, "There is no path to peace; peace is the path." Based on this idea, we may ask ourselves... if peace is the path, then how do we make peace within our own thoughts and feelings to bring about more peace in the world? Join Rev. Anne for our second week of Advent as we explore one simple teaching that will not only create the sacred space for inner peace, but will also lead to more peace between nations. And who doesn't want that?

CANCELLATION

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the concert by the Northlake Vocal Ensemble originally scheduled for this Friday evening, Nov. 30th, has been cancelled.

A Bear for Every Chair
Sunday, November 25th - December 16th, 2018

We are collecting stuffed animals each week through Sunday, December 16th, to donate to the local police departments and shelters. The police use the animals when they find themselves dealing with tragedies and injuries involving children. When a child is in distress it is comforting to receive a small, cuddly animal to hug. By collecting them for several weeks congregants will have time to give lots of hugs and love to these little creatures of comfort before they are distributed to the children.  Loving on these stuffed critters is the next best thing to being able to comfort a child in person.

Let's fill up all the seats in the sanctuary with critters and pour our hugs and love into them on Sunday mornings  until we distribute them to the Dalworthington and Arlington Police Departments and SafeHaven Women's Shelter.
The Tuesday Knights Present:
An End of Year Tax Chat
Sunday, December 2nd, 2018

The Tuesday Knights will be on campus to provide general information about the new tax laws and the possible impact on your 2018 tax returns. Three of these gentlemen are experienced tax preparers and will discuss subjects that may be of interest to you or have an effect on your 2018 IRS Income Tax Return. The event will take place in the Garden Lane Center immediately following the 11:00am service.

For example, there's lots of talk about the new tax laws that went into effect late last year to be effective in 2018. The "Tax Cut and Jobs Act" doubled the standard deduction as of January 1, 2018. What should you be aware of before 12/31/2018?

They will also offer suggestions regarding local tax preparation services.  There are many reputable services throughout the Metroplex that employ well trained and talented preparers, including VITA and AARP who may be able to prepare your taxes at a low to no cost.

Additionally, the panelists have received new information that may be of interest to you and include the 2019 Tax Brackets and Rates, Standard Deduction Amounts and the Student Loan Interest Deduction, for example.

Please feel welcome to come join Bernie Owen, Larry Jordan and Peter Lynch for a FREE panel discussion.

All you need to bring are your questions!
Kit Holmes
is returning to
The PosiLounge
December 16th, 2018
4pm

It's been far too long, 25 months, but the PosiLounge is delighted to bring Kit back for the holidays!

Intelligent, insightful lyrics and memorable melodies all woven through rich harmonies, Kit's smooth vocals have been compared to the likes of Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Anne Murray and Kathy Mattea. Piano and melody-driven, Kit's masterfully crafted songs make "jazz chords" exceptionally accessible to the listener. Always engaging, she'll have your toes tapping and your ears dancing with her music.

Remember, the PosiLounge only seats 30 in a most intimate setting so RSVP soon. You don't want to miss this Christmas present from the PosiLounge!

Reverend Anne Tabor, M.Div., is available by appointment for spiritual counseling sessions at Unity of Arlington in a safe and supportive environment. As an ordained Unity minister, Rev. Anne, offers spiritual counseling to individuals seeking
a deeper understanding of themselves and their divine power within to solve life's challenges. Spiritual counseling can help if there is a need for inspiration, crisis support, or healing in any area of your life.  Prayer and meditation are an integral part of Unity's spiritual principles, and an essential practice in realizing the answers we seek. We believe in the transformative power of affirmative prayer. You are a unique expression of God. Spiritual counseling will remind you of that!

Spiritual counseling is offered on a love offering basis. While no specific fee is expected or suggested, we do invite each person to leave a love offering. For more details, please call the church office 817-467-5151.

UNITY'S FIVE BASIC PRINCIPLES

Principle #1:
There is only one Presence and one Power in the Universe and in my life,
God the Good.

Principle #2:
Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within.
Their essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

Principle #3:
Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking.
Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

Principle #4:
Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.

Principle #5:
Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough.
A person must live the truth he or she knows.

CORE VALUES

Spirit-Led:
Centered in the awareness of God's presence, we turn within for divine guidance in  all we do.

Love:
Love is our True Nature. We express the harmonizing power of love to
see good everywhere and in everybody. Love binds together the whole
human family.

Diversity:
We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. In a spirit of Unity,
we embrace each person as an expression of God grounded in truth and love.

Connection:
We live, love, and laugh from our Oneness with God. We honor our inter-connectedness with each other, with all life, and the earth.

Abundance:
God is our Infinite Source of Good. We gratefully demonstrate prosperity in all areas of our lives. We wisely use our wealth of resources to serve our spiritual community and the world.

Service:
We cultivate enlightened leadership by practicing the teachings of Jesus the Christ through sacred service. It is a blessing to serve locally and globally.

Integrity:
We consciously choose to practice living our Core Values and Unity Principles rather than simply professing them. We choose to communicate from the heart with authenticity and deliver on our commitments with reliability.
