Dear T-bird Parents & Families,
We are heading into our final days of classes for Fall semester. I'm amazed at all the things our students have accomplished in such a short amount of time- adjusting to new roommates, developing independence, creating their own schedules, and learning why red clothes shouldn't be washed with white clothes. They have shown courage and persistence and should be proud of their efforts.
As they prepare for final exams, words of support and encouragement from home can go a long way in helping students finish strong. You could send a note, an encouraging text, or a care package filled with all the things they love best. Some fun care packages you can order on campus can be found on our
Parent and Family Services website
.
We would love to help you encourage your student, and have two fun plans we need your help with:
1)
We are creating a positive and uplifting video to boost students through finals, and we would love to have your family in it! We are looking for a quick encouraging message, the simple directions can be found
here
. Submissions need to be in by Monday, December 3.
2)
I have created 100 Good Luck cards with free drink coupons to help keep your student hydrated and caffeinated during finals week. Email me your students name and phone number, an encouraging message, and who you'd like the note signed from (Grandma, Mom, Dad, brother, family pet, we've seen them all). I will deliver to the first 100 students I hear from.
If you are looking for some good conversation starters with your student, I enjoyed
this article
with tips for supporting your student during finals and
this article
about helping them stay motivated.
Please feel free to contact me any time your student has a need and you aren't sure where to send them for support. There are so many resources available, let's help your student use them. I look forward to another semester learning together.
