ANNUAL FALL CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY
A MESSAGE FROM THIS YEAR'S DRIVE CHAIR FAMILY, THE ANDERSONS:

Almost invisible...The care giver who day in and day out gives all their attention to their loved one with no respite. The addict who's homeless, but wants to get clean. The family that doesn't have enough food to get through the week. A struggling student with nowhere to go after school.

In our day-to-day hustle and bustle, it's easy for most of us to overlook the need that hides just below the surface. It's easy because most of us, God willing, won't ever have to worry about the insecurity that comes with any of these situations. But life isn't always predictable. Continue reading...

NOW PROGRAM STARTS ANOTHER YEAR OF SERVING AREA CHILDREN

Since its creation in the fall of 2013, the Nutrition On Weekends program has grown to help more than 450 local children whom are facing food insecurities in their home. The program provides supplemental food packs for children to take home on the weekend throughout the school year. Last year, the NOW program served children in the Marshfield, Auburndale, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Pittsville, Spencer and Stratford School Districts. The program also served children at the Marshfield location of the Wood County Head Start program. All schools will be served in the 2018-19 school year.

The communities' support of this program has been wonderful and has made it possible for the program to grow into what it is today. To continue the success of the program, United Way has created a sponsorship form as another way to support the program. There are 34 weeks during the school year that a child receives a food pack to take home for the weekend. To sponsor a child for the entire school year costs $78. Each food pack contains:  2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 2 cups of cereal, 2 pieces of fresh fruit, baby carrots, and 2 snack items.

Please use this link to fill out an electronic sponsorship form. If would like a paper copy mailed to you, please click here.

MAKING AN IMPACT...

Right 2 Play 4 All is a program of Marshfield Area United Way and is committed to promoting a healthier and safer lifestyle for children in the Marshfield Area through the power of sports. The scholarships are for children of all ages who would like to participate in a sport or (health-related) activity but whose family needs a little extra help covering the costs and fees associated participating in the sport/activity.

Recently, United Way was contacted by a school social worker. She explained that there was a student wanting to play football, but who's family was unable to afford cleats for him to participate. Through the Right 2 Play 4 All the student received cleats and was able to be a part of the football team. The student sent this message back to United Way after receiving his cleats..."Thank you for the shoes. I love them so much!  The cleats are SOOOOOO COOL!!!Keep doing what you guys do - you can really help make a difference!"

Your gift to Marshfield Area United Way supports programs that help area children, like this student in the story above. Your generosity is making a difference!
