Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Working Together to Achieve a Dream
January 20, 2020 is a day when our nation honors, celebrates, and reflects upon the life and contributions of Martin Luther King, Jr. As we begin a new decade, we must renew our efforts and resolve to continue to push forward together to achieve the promises of his "I Have a Dream" speech!

Activities to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Perhaps you spent time over the Holidays traveling by air... how accessible did you find the airplane? Have some strong thoughts and ideas from recent or past experience traveling? NOW is your time to share! The U.S. Department of Transportation is soliciting comments for proposed regulations, until March 2, 2020, to improve accessibility of lavatories. Start the new year by sharing your experiences and using your voice.

A new decade starts and another chance to raise your voice... The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is seeking input on the challenges faced by family caregivers from individuals and organizations that capture the breadth of the family caregiving experience. This information will be used to assist the Family Caregiving Advisory Council in developing its initial report to Congress and to inform the development of the national family caregiving strategy. It also will be used to help the Council plan future activities, including public listening sessions that will begin in 2020. To provide your input, please complete the following form no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, February 7, 2020.

New year, New Guidance for pediatricians... while this clinical report was released in 2019 in Pediatrics, it is NEW and serves as the first AAP update in a decade for pediatricians as to screening, diagnosis and treatment guidelines for Autism. While this report is intended to guide pediatricians, it is equally as important to guide families in what to expect, what to seek and how to better partner with providers for our kiddos!
In Case You Missed It... SSA increased SSI payments as of 12/31/2019 so that the maximum federal SSI payment for an individual will go from $771 per month to $783 per month for 2020.
