Giving Thanks

In this time when so many have lost so much, we would like to take a moment to thank you for the support you have given us this year and every year. Through your partnerships, participation, gallery visits, donations, memberships, and purchases, you fill our hearts with gratitude and help us achieve our mission of bringing the community together through the arts.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to recognize the contribution of time, expertise and energy that Sharon O'Neil and Norma Villaron have provided to PVA through their years of service. We will miss you both.

We would also like to recognize and thank Exhibit Coordinator Hedwig Heerschop for producing the extraordinary exhibits that our volunteer Gallery Committee plan, design, and hang along with our guest curators. We thank our exhibiting artists, who place their trust in us to showcase their work. We couldn't fulfill our mission without our tireless volunteers, headed up by Teri Handzel and our Education Committee assisted by Cheryl Albert, our Educational Outreach Coordinator. We wish you all the best in this season of gratitude.

Mi Casa es Tu Casa

Thank you Mary Tartaro for your fabulous curatorial skills in putting together this year's Mi Casa es Tu Casa exhibit. Mary was mentored by Gallery Committee member Tracy Heller-Lecroy, and supported by our hardworking Exhibit Coordinator, Hedwig Heerschop. Over 1600 people have visited this show so far. If you haven't made it into the gallery yet, we invite you to visit before December 9. Twenty-seven community groups and ten individual artists are included in this heartfelt exhibit that honors those who have passed.

PVA invites your participation in this juried all-media exhibit, which seeks to educate, inspire, and develop  greater interest in the democratic process. Artifacts and stories detailing the involvement of Monterey Bay  residents in historic and current voting rights struggles will serve as the backdrop for the exhibit.

We ask you to submit your visual interpretations to the question, "What does the right to vote mean to me,  my community, and/or my country?" Subject of artwork could include (but is not limited to): current and/or  past voter suppression issues; loss/gain of voting rights to under-represented groups; meaning of the youth  vote; and issues that you can or should be able to influence through your vote.

The jurors for this exhibit are Lucien Kubo, Consuelo Alba, and Amy Diaz Infante.
