ONEROUS SOLAR AND WIND REFERENDUM SUBSTITUTE BILL IS INTRODUCED
This week, the House Public Utilities Committee accepted substitute House Bill 118, which subjects wind and solar projects to a new layer of local government regulation to the state siting process by including township referenda on these projects.

BWC BUDGET PASSES OHIO HOUSE WITH BI-PARTISAN SUPPORT
The Ohio House passed this biennium's workers' compensation budget on Wednesday, May 12. The budget contains several pro-business amendments.

GOV. DEWINE ANNOUNCES END OF $300 WEEKLY UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT
At his 2 p.m. coronavirus press conference on May 13, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Ohio will be cancelling its agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor on June 26th to offer the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, which is currently offering all unemployed Ohioans a weekly $300 bonus payment.

OHIO CHAMBER ANNOUNCES JOINT REGIONAL EFFORT IN SUPPORT OF LINE 5
On May 12, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce participated in a press conference to announce the filing of a joint legal brief in U.S. federal court in the Line 5 proceeding.

FINANCIAL LITERACY BILL PASSES SENATE
The Ohio Senate passed Senate Bill 1 on May 12; legislation that would require students to take a one-half unit course in financial literacy as part of a graduation requirement.

OHIO TO REQUIRE WORK SEARCH REQUIREMENTS TO REMAIN ELIGIBLE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT
On May 10, Governor DeWine announced all unemployed Ohioans will be required to complete work search activities in order to remain eligible for unemployment compensation benefits.
