Legacy Rock Shabbat

Join us for a special Shabbat Service that you don't want to miss! We are partnering with Yavneh Day School for this year's Legacy Rock Shabbat.

There will be an appetizer recpetion starting at 6:30pm, with the service to follow at 7:30pm.

Join your neighbors for a unique Havdalah experience. You will be matched with other Jewish families in your area to celebrate the end of the week while meeting new friends.

Israeli Dancing

Great exercise! Great fun! Great chance to meet new people!
Put on your dancin' shoes and come to our free Israeli dance class taught by our very own Loui Tucker. No dance experience necessary and we welcome everyone from the community to join in the fun.


M is for Mah Jongg & Mitzvah!
February 9 // 1:30pm

Come play at Temple Emanu-El from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The cost is $25 &(proceeds will go to Sisterhood’s Tikkun Olam Mitzvah Projects) There will be appetizers, desserts and prizes!

This is not a tournament, just a fun day with friends!

Hillel of Silicon Valley L'Dor V'Dor Celebration

Lunch & Learn with Rabbi Magat

Join the Rabbi for lunch, and bring your opinion! Bring a sack lunch and join Rabbi Magat to share in a stimulating discussion of recent events, political happenings, and current events. This event is open to the community.

Baby Shabbat
February 8 // 9:00am

Temple Emanu-El presents a Shabbat experience geared towards families with children ages 1-30 months. Little ones will enjoy a service full of Shabbat songs and Torah talk! Kiddush, motzi, and a bagel oneg sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood follows this fun-filled program.

Janka - A play by Oscar Speace
January 24-26 - 2pm & 7pm

The Janka Project and the Fresno Arts Council in conjunction with the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts present Janka, an eyewitness account of the Holocaust journey of Janka Festinger. This powerful performance will put you into the middle of Hitler’s Final Solution. 

Jewbilee Day of Jewish Learning
January 26 // 1pm

The Stories That We Dance -
Immerse yourself in a Jewish learning experience. Jewbilee is an annual day of Jewish learning at the JCC. Additionally, our very own Phil Hankin, TEE Education Director, is offering a unique experience! He will explore the history of Israeli dance and the stories that the early Chalutzim (pioneers) told. Prepare to schvitz!

International Holocaust Remembrance Day
January 28 // 1:30pm

Local Holocaust survivor Tamar Jacobs and Council Member Sergio Jimenez will join Mayor Sam Liccardo in proclaiming a week of remembrance in San Jose during the Ceremonial Items portion of the regular meeting of the San Jose City Council.

Violins of Hope
January 28 // 5:30pm

The Violins of Hope Project is a rare assemblage of string instruments played by European Jews before, during, and after the Holocaust. These priceless historic instruments are touring the world, bringing together people of all faiths, nationalities and beliefs.
