After Prom provides a safe, alcohol-free, and fun environment for all Chagrin Falls Juniors and Seniors. About 90% of students attend After Prom every year, whether or not they attend the prom. After Prom is organized, planned and hosted by the parents of the CFHS Junior class and paid for exclusively by various fundraising activities and private donations.

Chagrin Falls High School baseball team will host their annual breakfast with Santa on December 7, 2019. Bring the family for All-You-Can-Eat pancakes, crafts with the Baseball Elves, and SANTA! Vaping
The Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools believes that our schools must be a safe place for students and staff. The use or possession of any tobacco products, electronic smoking device, vaporizers, etc. by students is a violation of the CFEVS Code of Conduct. This applies to all school sponsored events and extracurricular activities both on school property and away from school. In addition to facing school discipline, we are partnering with Chagrin Falls Police Department who will issue a citation to students found in violation; which could result in a fine or court appearance.

Communication was sent to families at the end of last week outlining not only the potential consequences of vaping, but also supports available to students. A copy of that letter can be found HERE.

PSAT Results
2019 PSAT/NMSQT results will be available to students via the College Board website December 9 - 11. To learn how to access your child's scores, click HERE .

College Applications/Transcripts/Scholarships
All requests for transcripts and recommendations are due to the Counseling Office before Monday, December 16th, including any applications with early January deadlines to ensure processing before winter break.

Current scholarship opportunities are available via Naviance. Students can also pick-up paper copies in the Counseling Office.

Please remember that the Counseling Office requires 10 school days to ensure timely processing of all applications. Students are to submit their application for admission first and make arrangements for standardized test score reporting before requesting school documentation from the Counseling Office. A $2.00 transcript fee per application should accompany each request.

Junior Parents and the College Process
One of the factors critical to the college admission process is standardized testing. The ACT
and the SAT are the two primary standardized tests utilized to assess a student’s academic
readiness for college. We encourage testing for at least one spring administration during junior
year while planning for re-testing, if appropriate, senior year. Additionally, students considering
highly selective colleges and universities should also take SAT Subject Tests which are utilized
to demonstrate competency in a specific academic area. Please keep in mind that specific
testing requirements are dictated by the institutions themselves and you are encouraged to
research what those requirements may be.

Registration for tests is completed entirely online at www.act.org or www.collegeboard.org .
Please keep in mind that all testing takes place on Saturday mornings at local high schools.
Chagrin Falls High School is not a testing location. Registration for tests should take place at
least 5-6 weeks in advance of the actual test date to ensure a reservation at your preferred
testing location. If your child receives testing accommodations via a Section 504 Plan or an IEP,
please contact his or her counselor to discuss the process associated with applying for services
with the testing companies.

A state-funded SAT will be administered to all students in the Class of 2021 on March 4th. All
juniors are expected to take the SAT on this day. The results from this SAT administration will
yield reportable college scores.

We realize that families will have a multitude of concerns and questions to be addressed along
the way. Please feel free to access our College Planning Timeline via the Counseling page
which provides valuable information prepared by our Department to facilitate the process.
Parents are highly encouraged to attend the important college planning event next spring, which
has been scheduled for Thursday, March 5th at 6:30 pm in the PAC.

Excel TECC
10th grade students attended presentations from Mayfield High School's Excel Tecc staff on Wednesday, October 30th.
