It's here! The most wonderful time of the year! For many of our businesses, this can be a season of stress and long hours, for others, it can be a time of preparing for the next upswing. Where ever your business finds itself in this season, I hope that you are able to find rest, peace and joy and that your Christmas holiday is filled with the ones you love most.

One of the things that make your community so great is the many events we have going on, and the holiday season is no exception. Make sure to be seen at one of our community events and chamber networking opportunities to continue building the momentum of your organization. After the holidays, The Chamber will be hosting its Spring semester of classes for you and your colleagues. Stay tuned for Chamber U class and workshop dates coming up soon!

Remember, no matter what your holidays look like, you are loved, cherished and valued and we can't wait to crush it in 2019 with you!

From Our Chamber Family to Yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

CHAMBER NEWS - A 2018 REVIEW
We want to start by saying thank you to everyone for a terrific 2018!  You each have played a part in making this the most rewarding job by serving you and our great Royse City Community. We could not have pulled everything off without our team known as our Board of Directors. They each put in the time and effort month after month to make our lives easier with their assistance. Of course, our Ambassadors and all of our eager volunteers throughout the year are very important to us.
·   The Chamber welcomed 70 new Chamber Members this year!
·   Legislative: Each Legislative Session, a Chamber of Commerce typically writes a position paper that focuses on areas of concern for our community and businesses. Working with officials from Rockwall County and our ISD, we will have a combined document to present to our Representatives during Rockwall County Days February 24-26 in Austin. The areas we are discussing are: Property Taxes, Education, Conservation and Water Management, TXDot Roads and Highways, Behavioral Healthcare System & Economic Development. If you are interested in attending, please contact us.
· Our Royse City CDC has been very busy working with developers and potential businesses that are wanting to make Royse City their new home. Growth has boomed over the past year and there are many exciting businesses and housing options on the horizon.
·   Buc-ee’s is getting closer to completion! Their brand recognition and being known for their customer service brings a great deal to our town.
·   New homes bring new people to our community, including students. With the amazing growth we are experiencing, the RCISD has announced plans for a new Bobby Summers Middle School and renovations to the existing schools.
·   Our Main Street Director, Paula Morris , is constantly busy improving our downtown and helping our local businesses thrive. Our program continues to receive national accreditation for their progress. We thank Paula for the beautiful décor, the pumpkin patch, the Christmas events, Car Show, Trick or Treat on Main Street and more!
·   Once again, we were blessed with a wonderful day for our 29 th Annual FunFest. Every year the Chamber tries to improve the event so that our community and our vendors are all happier than the year before. Plans are already in full swing for our 30 th Annual FunFest on October 19, 2019, which also includes our RunFest 5k!
·   Casino Night has become a signature event for the Chamber. This night of games, dinner, and a live and silent auction is highly anticipated. A portion of the proceeds we receive from this fundraiser are used each year for the 2 college scholarships that we award to a graduating RCHS Senior.
·   Work is continuing our Historic Calaboose . This old jail was built around 1911 and holds a lot of history that we don’t want to lose. We thank Bobby Gladu with A&A Granite & Artisan Masonry for pushing forward on this project. Your donations are also appreciated through the purchase of a personalized brick that will be placed at the Calaboose site.
·   We will continue to bring you our Chamber U Classes such as our Active Shooter Training Class we had in June that we hosted with RCPD in which we had over 100 people in attendance.
·   As always, we are so grateful to work so closely with our wonderful Mayor Janet Nichol along with our City Manager, Carl Alsabrook and all of the other City Employees who work tirelessly every day. We are grateful for all of you!

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Heather Grupido

My husband Chris and I moved to Royse City in 2006 and have loved becoming a part of this amazing community. We do not have children, however we do have three precious fur babies that keep us very occupied. For 22 years, I worked for large corporate restaurant companies. Since 2009, we have owned and operated HCG Restaurant Group, LLC., which is our parent company for our two Charlies's Old Fashioned Burgers and our two Mr. Jim's Pizza franchises and HCG Realty and Development, which currently holds three commercial property holdings.
In my free time, I love spending time with my family, I am an avid reader, love volunteering in my community, and enjoy traveling.
