Don't Miss the Event of the Year
The Holiday Street Parade promises to be "Out of this World"
Boca Raton's 49th Holiday Street Parade returns on
Wednesday, December 11 and welcomes more than 70 floats and groups to entertain viewers as they bring dance, lights and songs that are "Out of This World!" The parade route begins at Federal Hwy. and SE 5th Street, and travels north to Mizner Park Amphitheater. The parade begins at
7:30pm.

Make Your Holidays Nautical and Nice
The 43rd Annual Boca Raton Holiday Boat Parade on
Sunday, December 15 from 6:30pm - 8pm is the perfect way to experience the holiday season! The parade takes place on the Intracoastal Waterway starting at the C-15 canal (Boca Raton-Delray Beach city limits) traveling south to the Hillsboro Bridge. Enjoy the parade, food and drinks from several public viewing areas including Red Reef Park (west), the Wildflower Property, or Silver Palm Park.

Boca's Favorite Hometown Holiday Tradition is Back -- on a Saturday!
The Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl kicks off at
3:30pm on
Saturday, December 21. Tickets are now on sale.
The Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl will select two participating teams from its three partner conferences: Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference and the American Athletic Conference. Florida universities, UCF and FAU, are among those that are bowl eligible.
The weekend starts off with the "Community Pre-Party" at the Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real) on
Friday,
December 20 with a country music BBQ.

Help Us Name a New Park
Help us name a new park in Boca Raton. The two Intracoastal properties known as Silver Palm Park (south side of Palmetto Park Road) and the Wildflower Property (north side of Palmetto Park Road) will be connected under the Palmetto Park Road bridge and redeveloped as
one, integrated, waterfront park site.

Congratulations to the Jr. Golf Classic Champs!
Congratulations to the winners of the City of Boca Raton's and Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District's inaugural 2019 Red Reef Jr. Golf Classic! This free tournament was held on Sunday, November 10, and over 30 qualified Junior Golfers came to play.

City Hall Briefs
Brightline/Virgin Trains Update
Ordinance No. 5509, proposing a long-term lease between the City and Brightline/Virgin Trains (VTUSA), was introduced at a City Council meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The long-term lease is for a train station and parking garage on the site of the current community garden and Downtown Library parking lot. The Planning & Zoning Board recommended the approval of the ordinance on November 21, 2019. A final public hearing will take place at the regular City Council meeting on December 10, 2019.

Community Garden
Brightline/Virgin Trains USA (VTUSA) would like to use the community garden site to build a train station. VTUSA has offered to relocate the community garden at a cost not to exceed $300,000. The proposed new site has been identified at the southeast area of Meadows Park. City staff is working with the Junior League of Boca Raton and VTUSA on the proposed Community Garden relocation.
Ocean Breeze Golf Course Redevelopment
The Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District agreed that the City should fund, construct and operate the golf course redevelopment project. The City will expedite a proposal to seek additional design and construction bids that include: an 18-hole course, a short course, a driving range and a temporary clubhouse. The City agreed to develop an interlocal agreement (ILA) that will specify each organization's roles and responsibilities relating to the golf course project. The City will present the new ILA to the District before the new year, and the agencies will meet again on Monday, January 27, 2019 at 6pm at 6500 Congress Avenue.

Interim Police Chief Announced
Following the retirement of former Police Chief, Dan Alexander, Michele Miuccio has been appointed Interim Chief of Police, effective December 1, 2019. Chief Miuccio has been with the Boca Raton Police Department for over 30 years and has served as the Deputy Chief of Police for the last four years. Congratulations Chief Miuccio!

Park Project Updates
- Hillsboro El Rio Park South: Construction is progressing, and a ribbon cutting ceremony has been scheduled for February 22, 2020.
- Wildflower / Silver Palm Park: Construction of the $6.8 million park project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2020.
- Lake Wyman / Rutherford Park: The Parks & Recreation Board will review plans for Lake Wyman / Rutherford Park on Tuesday, December 3 at 5:15pm. Improvements include new kayak launches, fishing pier, new boardwalks, pavilions and restrooms.
- Pine Breeze Park: Approved by Parks & Recreation Board in October 2019. Design for renovations is underway with estimated completion in fall 2020
- Sand Pine Park: In the planning phase, with an estimated completion in fall 2021.

Landscape Awards of Excellence / Beautification Committee Awards
The Boca Raton Beautification Committee recently announced the winners of the Annual Landscape Excellence Awards at City Hall. Each year, the Beautification Committee honors local businesses for their landscaping efforts in several different categories.
