Written by DAVID LINDSAY-ABAIRE

Produced by Katy Benko-Miner
A Deep Emotional
Rabbit Hole
Rabbit Hole
, a 2007 Pulitzer prize winning drama, powerfully chronicles the survival of family members after an enormous loss of a loved one. The subject of David Lindsay-Abaire’s play is grief, loss, and the supreme effort people must make to comfort each other in these mournful days. How can a family cope with the pointless, accidental death of a four-year-old child? Anyone who has ever been a parent, or lost someone close, cannot help but be emotionally drawn into this riveting story.
The Fauquier Community Theatre’s exceptionally transparent five-member cast poignantly portrays the penetrating feelings of grief – but each in their own way. They are all navigating the long road to closure and acceptance with this heart-wrenching loss.
The play follows the journey of Becca (Ivy Elizabeth) and Howie (Danny Seal) through the aftermath of the tragic death of their only son, Danny, who was accidentally hit by a car. While Becca draws away from loved ones, averts offers of support from friends and family, and looks to escape from everything even remotely related to Danny, Howie puts all of his effort into hiding his emotions and pretending to move on. Becca’s mom, Nat (Sandra DeRocha) sharply explores the grit and truthful notion of how grief is split up and unfairly measured and knows too well its long-lasting effects. There are some light moments in the play which bring much needed laughter. Katie Gorman expertly exemplifies the role of comedic breath with her cool, calm, and collected depiction of Izzy, Becca’s younger, immature sister. She is accidentally pregnant, which sets off complex feelings in Becca, who is convinced that the girl is simply not prepared for the complexities of parenting. Cole Edwards completes the cast as Jason, a humble, relatable high school student with a sorrowful secret, but one who can still look forward to a full, rewarding life.
The cast brilliantly maneuvers through the complex emotions that follow a tragedy. Laughter is welcomed and earned, which then leads to inevitable yearning and devastation. The audience is able to follow it all every step of the way. The cast achieves in telling a story of the cycle of grief into new beginnings, blame, ego, and family dynamics, with great sensitivity, care and precision. These performances, astutely directed by Ken Wayne and produced by Katy Benko-Miner, combine to create an unforgettable evening
.
The play will run for nine performances from January 24 – February 9, 2020.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm, and Sunday matinees are at 2:00 pm. More information and reserved seating for all of the performances is available online at

Spotlight On Christie Clark
|
Serving FCT For More Than a Decade!
We wish to extend a warm farewell and a heartfelt thank you to FCT's Executive Director, Christie Clark as she moves on to embark on her next journey as a full-time real estate agent.
Christie began working at FCT in July 2009 as the "ticket coordinator". Kevin Tupper was on the FCT Board of Directors at the time and when the job opened up, he contacted Christie to fulfill the position. She worked part time as the Box Office Manager and the Ticket Coordinator, also serving the members and subscribers.
As the years progressed, so did her duties and responsibilities. She continually became involved in many more aspects of this theatre company. Christie has demonstrated consistent innovation while serving as FCT's full time Executive Director. Her favorite responsibilities have been Advertising and Marketing all of the GREAT shows that FCT has produced over the last 11 years, Box Office coordination, and organizing special events. Memberships, ticket sales, business sponsors and volunteers increased consistently over the years. Christie has always held her position, FCT patrons, and fellow FCT volunteers very close at heart.
Fiscal responsibility and financial success was very important to Christie during her tenure. Her first attempt to increase the sales at FCT started out as a 30% increase in season subscribers for the 2009-2010 season. That ignited something in her that had her striving to break all of the FCT records for the following year - in which she did! Subscriptions and Memberships were increased and Business Sponsorships were doubled. Every year after that one, Christie worked hard to keep beating her own records - in which she did! A highlight for her was in 2017-2018, she brought in over $24,000 in business sponsorships and $14,000 of in-kind donations & barterships. In 2019 memberships hit an all time high of $18,000 with an increase of over $8,000 from the prior year.
When asked about her leaving her position at FCT, she remarks, "I will sincerely miss all of the wonderful people that I have met and worked with over the last 11 years. You all have made this more than a job, you have made it family!" Also she states, "Keep the arts alive and continue to produce the BEST plays and musicals for the joy of the community!"
Christie warmly welcomes her replacement, Debra Smyers, as the new Executive Director of FCT. The two have enjoyed working together at FCT for the last year and a half.

A Farewell Reception for Christie Clark will take place on February 2, 2020 at 4 pm at The Inn at Vint Hill. This will give everyone including FCT members a chance to send Christie off with heartfelt thanks and best wishes! For more details and to RSVP, click
