The Taste of CJ, part of CJ Reunion Weekend, is a great opportunity for parents to connect with alumni and other parents in the CJ community. The ev ent is Friday, Jun. 21 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Registration is $40 at the door. The event features tastings from restaurants owned or operated by alumni or current parents.

You are also invited to the community Mass being held at Queen of Apostle's Church at St. John's on Saturday, June 22 at 4 p.m.

Updated Hours
Uniform tops and approved sweatshirts, as well as CJ Spirit Items, can be purchased through the CJ Spirit Shop on select days through the summer, including:
  • Used Uniform Sale - Thursday, Jul. 11 (2-6 p.m.) & Friday, Jul. 12 (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
  • New Student/Parent Orientation nights in July - open a half hour before and after the events
  • Wednesday, July 17 | 5-8 p.m.
Items from the CJ Spirit Store may also be purchased through the online link on the  CJ website . Please note — items ordered through the online store may take 2-3 weeks to be completed, so please order before Thursday, Aug. 1 to ensure delivery for the start of school.

This Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of the Canonization of St. Julie Billiart, Foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. On June 22, 1969, Pope Paul VI proclaimed Julie as a Saint in recognition of her life of holiness and her work of making known God's Goodness. To learn more about St. Julie and this milestone, click  here . St. Julie Billiart, pray for us!

July Action Item - Practice, Practice, Practice
A little practice goes a long way! With Official SAT Practice, focus on exactly what you need to work on most as you prepare for the SAT. Students in the class of 2020 who use free  Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy®  can earn a chance at a $1,000 scholarship. The College Board will award 150 Practice scholarships every month through October 2019. More information can be found on the CollegeBoard website  here .

Naviance - What to Work on Now
Seniors   Start working on the Letter of Recommendation Feedback Form in your  Naviance Student   account. Counselors and teachers require this task to be completed by all seniors who need a letter of recommendation for a college application. Parents are also invited to log in to their   Naviance account  and complete the Parent Feedback Form. Email Emily Saunders if you need your login information.
A few other things seniors can start doing now are
  • update your Colleges I'm Applying To list in Naviance
  • think about who you will ask to write your letter of recommendation (if needed)
  • request your letters of recommendation through the Naviance Student account
  • update their Common App account
  • work on your resume in Naviance
  • plan a few more college visits (seniors are permitted 5 college visits)

Juniors  Now is the time to really think about your What's Next! It is time to start visiting colleges, go to campuses, take tours, sit in a class, and meet with admissions reps. CJ students are permitted 3 college visits during their junior year, stop by guidance for the form and more information!

Sophomores and freshmen — Work on building your resume in your Naviance Student account. This is a great place to add work experience, activities and awards, honor roll, service, and much more. Start it now and add to it and you will be ahead of the game when you really need this resume for senior year. Although you might think it is a bit early and you are not sure what path you will explore, it is still important to take a look at different types of colleges available and start working on a plan for your future. Start exploring colleges with  SuperMatch®  (Home Page > Colleges > Find Your Fit > SuperMatch) in Naviance Student to find schools that match your interests.

The men's lacrosse team will hold open field sessions from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Roger Glass Stadium - Home of the CJ Eagles, on the following Saturdays:

  • July 6
  • July 20
Sessions will also be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on the following dates:
  • July 15, 16. 17, 18, 19
  • July 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
No experience is necessary and there is no obligation to commit to the team.

Cardiac Screening Opportunities
Thursday, Aug. 29 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. | $79
CJ is partnering with mCORE™ — Mobile Cardiac Overview and Risk Evaluation — to screen students for the cardiac conditions and abnormalities which may put
them at risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Each exam costs $79 and takes 10-12 minutes for the EKG and Echo screening. Learn more about mCORE and Preventative Heart Screenings here . You can reserve a time slot for your student here .

Guidance Office Announcement
Susan Eichenauer, a member of the guidance office team since the 2000-2001 school year, has accepted the position of program manger for City Connects Ohio. Chaminade Julienne helped develop and launch City Connects in Ohio in partnership with Boston College, and we are excited that Susan has accepted leadership for this student support program that is so important to our community.  In her new role, she will remain supportive of our guidance office team and will assist her successor during the transition. We have begun a search process and will share additional information to families with the last names A-F when more information is available.

Summer Service Tracking Online Program
Many of our students choose to volunteer in and around our community during the summer months. Please remind your students to enter their hours in our new online service tracking program, Helper Helper ( helperhelper.com ). This program was explained to students during the last weeks of school, and all should have logged in and set up their profile at that time.

2019 - 2020 ACT and SAT test dates that will be held at CJ can be found on the CJ website in the  guidance office section . Registration is online for all tests, except the state-funded test for juniors held at CJ on March 10, 2020. Learn more about registering for the ACT here and the SAT here .

All students have access to Method Test Prep through their Naviance Student online account. Students should log in to their Naviance Student account and scroll down to the bottom of the homepage for the Method Test Prep link. Additional practice tools can be found at the bottom of the page in the guidance office section on the CJ website.

June Action Item - Build Your College List
The @CollegeBoard is awarding $5 million in scholarships every year over the next five years, beginning with the Class of 2020. No application is required. Learn more here and look for updates here in Parent Weekly each week. The action item for the month of June is to Build Your College List online at  BigFuture.org .

CollegeBoard Account - Check Your Account Status
Juniors should check and make sure they have created a CollegeBoard account and have their username and password in a safe place that they can access. Juniors will take the State-funded ACT test on March 10, 2020 at CJ. Score reports are more easily transferred to the student account if the account is created in advance.
