Your Weekly Community Brief from Tangelo Park Elementary School
Together We Achieve the Extraordinary!

Monday, December 3, 2018

There are three weeks of school remaining before Winter Break! Let's continue to ensure that students are present and on time for school. Our teachers aim to use every minute of instructional time to help our students achieve learning gains every day.

Students will be taking the mid-year iReady assessments for Reading and Math from December 6th - December 20th.  Please ensure that your children get plenty of rest each night and arrive on campus beginning at 7:45 a.m. each morning to eat a healthy breakfast in the school cafeteria before taking these important assessments.

We encourage parents to talk to your students about their library books. Students have a weekly scheduled library visit with their class and many students also have opportunities throughout the week for additional library visits as needed. Most kindergarten and 1st grade teachers are allowing their students to check-out one book at a time and most 2nd - 5th grade teachers are allowing 2-3 books at a time. Most of our library books are Accelerated Reader (A.R.) books. This means that students can take a quiz for these books and earn A.R. Points.  Prizes will be announced very soon for students that earn enough points for the following A.R. Point Clubs:

* 5 Point Club
* 10 Point Club
* 25 Point Club
* 50 Point Club
* 75 Point Club
* 100 Point Club

We are in the process of creating an Adopt a Classroom Program to help support our teachers and students. If you would like to volunteer your time, please call our Curriculum Resource Teacher, Mrs. Pagan at 407-354-2630 or send her an email at [email protected].

Finally, we will like to congratulate the students that scored 80% or better on the Thanksgiving Packet that was sent home during the break. These students enjoyed a Principal's Pizza Party on Friday!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lakeitha Black
