Student of the Week: Victoria Ramazzini!
|
|
Emily Garza, 7
th Grader at Hogg Middle School, is our student of the week because she exhibits the IB Learner trait of CARING. Emily is part of the Karate team at Hogg as well as the Pokemon Club. She enjoys supporting her friends especially when they feel low. She believes that one should always look on the bright side instead of negative thinking.
Emily believes she was chosen as CARING because she is supportive and understanding of her friends. She is thankful for all her opportunities and wants everyone to feel the same. Emily is inspired by her mom and dad because they have taught her to be nice to other people. She states, “They are very caring, and I take that and pass it forward to others.”
Emily’s future educational plans include attending Texas A&M University and studying art eventually becoming a teacher. She wants to transfer to HSPVA for Art. Her goals are to make it into college and make other people feel happy and smile because it makes her feel good.
Emily enjoys art, karate, hanging out with her family and being around her friends. She also likes meeting new faces (being out there). She adds that she loves sketching people and animals.

Staff of the Week: Ms. Goodman!
|
|
Ms. Janay Goodman, Culinary Arts teacher at Hogg Middle School, is our Staff of the Week because she exhibits the IB Learner trait of RISK-TAKER! Ms. Goodman loves anything “artsy”. She also likes to travel where she likes learning about other cultures and play video games. She is proud to say that she learned to play piano in middle school.
Ms. Goodman believes states, “I think I was chosen as RISK-TAKER because I am always thinking if I don’t do things, I’ll miss out!” She also likes to experience new things. Her desire to be successful is what inspires her.
Ms. Goodman graduated from culinary institute and from a dual credit high school. She has taught at Hogg Middle for 4 years and likes to be creative and feels that Hogg provides the freedom she needs to explore new things.
Ms. Goodman’s main goal is to be independently wealthy! In her spare time, she plays instruments, video games and considers herself a builder. She enjoys cooking and singing as well.

Art Teacher, Ms. Ozanic Recognized in Houston's Thanksgiving Day Parade
|
|
Did you catch the HEB Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade? Did you notice the float with Chris Walker singing in front of a HOUSTON sculpture? That sculpture was made by one of Hogg's very own art teachers, Ms. Ozanic!
KHOU reported:
"Then there are the floats, which involve months of planning and weeks of hard work. Many were designed by Houston artists like Kati Ozanic-Lemberger.
“It’s really thrilling,” said Ozanic-Lemberger, who also teaches at Hogg Middle School. “My favorite thing is just to see it roll down the street and know that we made it happen.”
One of Ozanic-Lemberger’s floats spells out "Houston" with objects that celebrate the city’s diversity. She’s also designing floats for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, one of the parade’s sponsors, which will feature volunteers, Katy country artist Will Carter, and more."
Way to go, Ms. Ozanic!
