Welcome to the inaugural edition of our faculty newsletter, our go-to place for keeping you informed about the latest news and research as well as research funding and awards opportunities. We hope to streamline communications from my team so the information is brought to you in an easily scannable format.

Faculty Senate Nominations Requested

Get our voices heard by nominating yourself and your colleagues for Faculty Senate. Nominations (including self-nomination) are due April 15.  The  Drexel University Faculty Senate  has a number of open faculty positions for College of Engineering that will begin in October. Elections will run the last week of April, closing May 1, and will be conducted via on-line balloting through Qualtrics.

To make a nomination, please contact  Dr. Christopher Sales , College of Engineering Representative on the Senate Committee on Nominations. Submissions should consist of name(s) only. Open positions include:

  • Two two-year term Senate positions (2020-2022)
  • Three three-year term Senate positions (2020-2023)
  • Six alternate Senate positions
  • Standing Committee vacancies for:
  • Senate Committee on Academic Support (SCAS)
  • Student Life Committee (SLC)
  • Other Senate committees:

Apply to be a Dean’s Fellow 2020-2021

In an effort to further develop our talented faculty, Dean Walker is seeking applications for the Dean’s Fellowship Program for 2020-2021. The one academic year appointment, beginning on September 1, will include $5,000 for each fellow's discretionary or overhead account.

Tenured faculty interested in working on strategic planning priorities, including curriculum and pedagogy, graduate programs, research and innovation, and space and culture, are asked to self-nominate by sending the following to Dr. Caroline Schauer by April 30 :

  • CV
  • Personal statement describing which strategic priority (curriculum and pedagogy, graduate programs, research and innovation, space and culture) is of interest and why – two-page maximum
  • Brief support letter from relevant Department Head (emailed separately)
