Bolsa Grande Students Promote College Goals at Cook Elementary
Bolsa Grande AVID students were met with high-fives and cheers at Cook Elementary School as the elementary students helped celebrate the seniors' upcoming high school graduation. Bolsa's students shared their college plans and met with fifth and sixth grade students to give them one-on-one advice and help with goal setting. Former student and GGUSD grad David Peterson presented insider tips on achieving college and career success!  #GGUSDPride . What a positive way to end the school year!
Enders Celebrates Pacifica's Class of 2019
Enders Elementary students celebrate Pacifica High School's Class of 2019 before their upcoming graduation ceremony, the culmination of their educational journey in GGUSD!
La Quinta Students Return to Paine Elementary as Positive Role Models
The La Quinta High School Class of 2019 visited Paine Elementary School this week, making a positive impact on students. They set a great example; inspiring Paine students to stay committed to academic success in elementary school and beyond. Many of the La Quinta students were thrilled to be back at Paine, where their academic journey began.
GGUSD Celebrates Parent Partnerships
GGUSD values strong partnerships with our parents. Last week, the district hosted a Community Celebration and Resource Fair for all of our parent leaders! The event was held at Santiago High School and featured student performances and great food. Parents who completed one of the district's Parent Education programs were invited and received a certificate of recognition at the graduation-style event. GGUSD Board of Ed President Lan Nguyen, Vice President Teri Rocco, Trustee Walter Muneton and Superintendent Gabriela Mafi attended to thank parents for their involvement in our schools!  #GGUSDPride

Hare High School Students Share Inspiring Stories
Hare High School valedictorian Angel Pivaral moved to the United States from Guatemala sophomore year knowing little English. With perseverance and hard work, he learned quickly, rose to the top of his class, and will serve as Hare's Class of 2019 valedictorian! Salutatorian Carlos Marquez also has an impressive story of grit and determination. Watch our video for more!
Stanley Students Learn about Public Servants
Stanley hosted its first annual Community Helpers event recently. First responders from the Garden Grove Police Department, service members from the U.S. Coast Guard, and Irvine Police Department Dispatcher presented about their roles in public safety. Students were also able to check out the Long Beach Police Department's helicopter in action. They learned how the police work to keep the community safe, how to have a career in law enforcement, water safety, and when to call 911.
Murdy Students Study Plastic Pollution
Kudos to Murdy third grade students and their families for organizing a beach clean up after their study around plastic pollution and its impact in our community. Students even impressed Garden Grove city officials with their research and essays on the topic!
Growing in GGUSD
Our district has a fantastic new teacher induction program which equips teachers for career-long success through meaningful mentorship. Recently they held an Induction Colloquium to reflect on their learning. We love the passion and energy new teachers bring to our classrooms and are proud of the systems we have in place to support their  #GrowthinGGUSD
Celebrating the Accomplishments of Exceptional Students
GGUSD's Community Advisory Committee hosted an Outstanding Student Recognition Awards ceremony to celebrate students with special needs on their many accomplishments! Students received certificates, gifts, and much applause for a successful school year. 
Barker Elementary Students Read Millions of Words
Give Barker Elementary School scholars a round of applause. Third through sixth grade students in the Accelerated Reader program read anywhere between 1 to 8 million words. Students who met the one million mark were rewarded with a trip to the movies with their classmates and teachers. School-wide there was a grand total of 186,477,592 words read this year!!  πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ¦  
Registration is Open for Preschool
Registration is now open for Garden Grove Unified School District’s high quality preschool programs. Enroll today for the 2019-2020 school year for one of the following preschool programs:

 
  • Brand new affordable full-day preschool at the Skylark Campus (offered at 11250 Mac Murray St., Garden Grove)
 
The new Skylark fee-based Preschool will have highly-trained credentialed teachers who provide students with a warm and caring preschool experience. The preschool will offer enrichment activities in dual language, technology, science, engineering, arts, math, and more. The full-day, fee-based program will provide the same exceptional educational curriculum offered in our half-day state preschool program, with opportunities for before and after school care. 
 
Children born between 12/3/2014 and 12/1/2016 are age eligible for our program. Space is limited for our 3-year-old classes for students born between 12/3/2015 and 09/1/2016.
