THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. LYNNDA WHITE & REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, April 11 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

Are we so fragile that our loyalty is lost when we find out that someone we have respected or idolized has made mistakes? Why is it nearly impossible for us to accept that someone we have disliked, even despised, is capable of humanity? How much of our UU First Principle (“the inherent worth and dignity of every person…”) do we really believe and practice?

Reverend Lynnda White recently retired from her position as Associate Minister of the UU Church of Peoria, Illinois. She is a member of InterNátional Initiative for Transformative Collaboration (INITC), a council of Original Peoples, People of Color, and other Indigenous Peoples. INITC has worked with the UUA regarding colonialism and the environment.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
New adult religious education offerings for 2021 have been announced in the Adult Religious Education Prospectus earlier this month. It promises to be a fun semester of classes, workshops, discussion and creative learning. The adult religious education committee is working on new programs to be added to this semester’s program. Keep an eye here for updates! Also, updates will be included in the eNews and on the church calendar.
OUR CARING CONGREGATION
Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut and AJ Herzog, which they have kept active daily since late spring. In order to address increased and unique needs this winter, they have created an Amazon wish list. All items will be delivered to Julie's house and shared between the two pantries. Donations of all items will continue to be accepted as usual at both locations, if you want to bring them in person.

Thank you for your support and generosity ~ Julie and AJ
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org last Sunday, April 4.
From Nancy Dietrich: Although I didn’t get up in time to join you all this morning on the sunrise walk, I was there in spirit, as I did get up in time to see the sunrise at the end of the ridge (Myra Ridge) in my neighborhood. It was beautiful.

From Scott Rohde: Remembering my mother, Barbara Jean Rohde, who died 20 years ago this week: a long time Unitarian, political activist, religious seeker and amateur theologian, lay minister, loving companion to my sometimes difficult father (no small talent!); and a writer—author of the UUA meditation manual for 1994. She remained curious to the end, wondering what, if anything, was next.

From Sam Beshers: Joy for our magnolia, which heralded spring and bloomed for 24 beautiful hours.

From Jenny and Kristi Hunt: Our mother Shirley Hunt is able to be with us to watch the service and have Easter dinner. It has been a long time coming.

From Umeeta and Marilyn Sadarangani: What great joy it was to be in person with church family during yesterday’s yarnbombing! Such fun to play together! Thank you, Rev. Sally, for organizing it.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
