North Dakota Association of Builders gathers in Williston; Horab named NDAB President

Williston Economic Development -  The North Dakota Association of Builders gathered in Williston this week for its annual meeting and awards banquet. Dan Kalil installed outgoing Western Area Builders Association president Bob Horab as the new NDAB president while Williston City Commissioner and State Senator Brad Bekkedahl instated the new board of directors for the Western Area Builders Association. Terry Olin is the incoming WABA president. The two-day event was held at McCody Concrete in Williston. About 100 people attended the banquet Nov. 29.
Dudas: It's looking like an Airport Now

MyNDNow.com - Pilots and commercial air travelers will have a brand new destination in Williston as of October.  That's when commercial flights will stop flying to "ISN" and begin landing at "XWA." That's the official FAA designation of the new Williston Basin International Airport. Jim Olson took a behind-the-scenes tour of the 250-million dollar facility Nov. 29. "It truly is looking like an airport now - it's exciting to be a part of," said Anthony Dudas, Williston Airport Director. Williston receives $8.5 Million in Federal Funds for XWA Fire Station

News Release - Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, announced Thursday, Nov. 29, that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development has awarded more than $29.3 million in loans for North Dakota entities. The City of Williston was awarded $8.5 million to build a fire station for the city's new airport. Read More
New Biodiesel Facility proposed in Trenton, ND
Bismarck Tribune - A new refinery has been proposed for oil-rich western North Dakota, prompting questions from a local township chairman. AIC Energy Corp. filed an application earlier this month with Williams County planning and zoning officials. It described the so-called "Bakken Oil Refinery" as a 28,000 barrel-per-day biodiesel facility located along Highway 1804 southwest of Trenton near the Montana border. AIC President John Melk declined to comment when reached by phone Monday. "We'll release a comment when it's appropriate," he said. Read More
PSC approves Roosevelt Gas Plant Expansion

Bismarck Tribune - An expansion of a natural gas processing plant received a green light from the North Dakota Public Service Commission on Monday, but regulators ordered the company to minimize noise and light impacts for neighboring landowners. The commission voted unanimously to approve Kinder Morgan's application to expand the Roosevelt Gas Plant in McKenzie County, a $150 million project. Read More

Williston Economic Development - Two Williston startups will share their stories at 1 Million Cups on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 8:30 a.m. in the Teton Lounge on the WSC campus. Rebecca Schug will share details about her business called Levelheaded Bookkeeping while Jawaid Surani will give an update on construction at Safari Trampoline Park. Coffee will be provided by Rough Neck Coffee. Bring a friend and a coffee mug to 1 Million Cups Dec. 5! 
Meet Area Legislators Dec. 6 in Williston
Williston Economic Development -  Western Region Economic Development and Western Area Builders Association invite area residents to meet their state legislators on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel. Legislators from Districts 1, 2, 4 and 39 will be available for comments and questions. Tune into KEYZ Radio 660 if you are unable to attend.
Economic Development to host Holiday Open House Dec. 7
Williston Economic Development - The community is invited to Williston Economic Development's fifth annual Holiday Open House on Friday, Dec. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at the Williston Center for Development (113 4th Street East). Join WED for complimentary beverages, appetizers, door prizes and much more! "It's an end of the year thank you to the investors, developers and lenders that we have worked with in 2018," said Shawn Wenko, WED executive director. 
Winter Weather Preparedness Course Dec. 13
News Release - Williams County and the City of Williston are co-hosting a Winter Weather Preparedness event on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 pm. The event will be held in the Williams County Commission Room at 206 East Broadway. The seminar will provide tips and tricks for preparing yourself, your car, and your home from Emergency Management Director, Mike Smith. This is great event for any newcomers to the area as well as a good refresher for those that have lived here for a long time!

News Release - The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Holiday Lights Parade on Nov. 23. The parade featured 38 floats decorated to the theme of Christmas Carols. Williston Mayor Howard Klug, City Administrator David Tuan, and Williston Police Chief David Peterson judged the floats. The winner of the most Electrifying Float award was Whiting Oil and Gas followed by Forks Services and American State Bank & Trust. Read More
Hess helps make Christmas Merry for Students in North Dakota

Bismarck Tribune - Hess Corporation plans to donate more than 8,000 toy trucks to North Dakota elementary schools to help incorporate science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, into classrooms. Liberty Elementary School is the first school in the state to experiment with the new trucks. On Nov. 26, state officials and Hess representatives visited Marcia Dorrheim's fourth-grade class. Read More

11/30 ------ Ribbon Cutting at Jackie's Wellness Spa
The Williston Chamber will hold a ribbon cutting at Jackie's new location at 214 Main Street. The spa will have a host a holiday open house from 4-6 p.m.

12/05 ------ 1 Million Cups
The community is invited to support and learn about business startups in Williston. The free one hour meeting runs from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Teton Lounge on the Williston State College campus.

12/06 ------ Legislative Open House
The community is invited to meet legislators from Districts 1, 2, 4 and 39 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel. The location and time still TBD.

12/06 ------ WPSD#1 Public Forum
The community is invited to learn about the Bond Issuance and Mill Levy Referendum to be held Jan. 8.

12/07 ------ Williston Economic Development Holiday Open House
The community is invited to join Williston Economic Development for some holiday cheer as we celebrate the past and look forward to 2019! The open house will run from 5-8 p.m. at 113 4th Street East (Williston Center for Development building).

12/07-08 ------ Downtown Holiday Stroll
T he Downtown Holiday Stroll will begin Friday evening with hot toddies, shopping, s'mores and food while Saturday will feature pictures with Santa and kids activities!  

12/11 ------ Williston City Commission
The commission meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The meeting will be held at the Grand Williston Hotel with the social beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m.

07/16-17 ------ Bakken Conference & Expo
The expo is billed as a premier North Dakota Oil Shale event. The two-day show will be held in Bismarck, ND.
