This Sunday at Christ Church
Bell Choir

Lessons & Carols 9:30 Service
This liturgy includes traditional readings, hymns, and anthems for the season of Advent.  The opening procession will be a highlight of the service and will include the singing of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" accompanied by handbells and organ (a great reason to arrive at church right at 9:30, if you possibly can! Remember--we have extra parking now in the Lloyd Beach Parking lot. Just use the new ramp up to church)

Join us for coffee after the service. We'd love to have you with us!

Faith & Practice for Everyone

Our low-stress pageant requires no memorizing of lines, only one rehearsal for the older children, and no rehearsal at all for ages three through 2nd grade. We have roles to suit everyone. Costumes provided. Primary Choir and Third Grade Choir do not need to sign up, they automatically have a role.

Please sign up on our website or send an email with requested roles to  [email protected] or [email protected].

Vestry Nominating Committee Receiving Names
Deadline is Friday, November 30
Our parish by-laws require the Rector to appoint a committee of the four retiring Vestry members and at least five other parish members to the parish Nominating Committee. They are to nominate a slate of four people for an upcoming Vestry term of three years each for our election at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 27, 2019.  In addition, we need to nominate a Junior Warden for a term of one year to be followed by a year as Senior Warden.  If you have a nomination to make, please send that parish member's name to Office Manager  Charlotte McGee.  Nominees must be 16 or older. Parish nominations close Friday, November 30. The committee meets on Sunday, December 2.
Youth & Children's News
Soft Knitted Nativity Set
This is a Nativity set we use in The Good Shepherd Atrium for our youngest children. Some parents have expressed interest in getting one like this to use at home. It is soft and hand-knit by an artisan in England. The figures are a great size for play! Available on Etsy.

Reclaiming Christmas
Are you seeking a more spiritual, less commercial Christmas for yourself and your family? Look no farther than this delightful book that celebrates Advent, Christmas (yes, all 12 days of it!) and Epiphany. Here you'll find inspiration AND practical suggestions for a faithful and playful season that lets you deepen your connection with what it's truly all about. There will be copies of this book in the Prevost Cloister available for sale in case you want to pick up a copy! You won't be disappointed!

Sunday, December 9
All youth (7th-12th grade): we need your culinary help! On Sunday, December 9 after worship (10:40-11:30AM) please join us in the kitchen of the McClain Room. Youth Giving a "Gift for Life" in Advent
All families are invited to come to the Youth Room to pick up a "Hope Chest" any time in Advent. Please collect donations and loose change, which will be used to purchase a "Gift for Life" through Episcopal Relief and Development. The youth are hoping to raise $100 to give a village a PIG! Donations will be collected on Sunday, December 16 at the Cookie Reception following the Christmas Pageant.
Invitation for Families with Young Children
Christ Church families with children ages 0-8, please put this on your calendar now! We are having a casual, post-holiday family gathering Saturday, January 12, 4:00-6:00 in the McClain Room with refreshments for all and toys and activities for the children. Christopher will be there to speak with the group.

Whether you are brand new to the church or have been here for a while, please join us so we can all meet each other and have some fun!

RSVP to Catherine James, [email protected] or Patty Lea, [email protected].  Hope you can make it!
Serve on the Altar: Acolyte
All 5th - 12th graders are invited to sign up to acolyte - whether they have done it before, it's been a while, or they've never done it! We can train them anytime - even Sunday morning. It is a great way to participate in the service, see worship from a new perspective, and feel ownership and belonging in the community.

Acolytes have a cross and ribbon hanging for them by name in the Acolyte Room. The color and cross changes as their level increases. They increase a level every year they serve, training/party they attend, or 8 times they serve. Triple points are awarded for being an acolyte on holidays or at the last minute!

For more information or to sign up, visit ourAcolyte webpage or email Megan Miller:  [email protected] .
