BEST Robotics Competition Only Weeks Away!

In BEST Robotics (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology), students are given 6 weeks to build a robot and prepare for competition. This year's competition is called Current Events, and challenges students to consider how they might use technology and robotics to stop the impact of pollution and climate change on the ocean and our planet. Teams have been working hard to prepare a robot for this ocean-themed challenge, an exhibit, marketing, and outreach. We are so excited to cheer them on in just a few short weeks! Please consider joining us at the competition! The event is a lot of fun!

Eric Boen - BEST Robotics

Eric jumped in with BEST Robotics last Fall as a coach for our middle school team. His background is in technology, so he felt working with students on robotics was a natural fit. Eric's son Ethan is a 7th grader at STEM.

In BEST, Eric's role (alongside co-coach Tom Fischer) is to guide the team of middle schoolers through the season challenge, a tight six-week build, and prepare them for the competition later this month. "My favorite part of being a coach is watching the students ideate novel solutions to problems. It is also fulfilling to see leaders emerge from the group; these young leaders mentor others and help to build a stronger more cohesive team," he says.

Outside of STEM, Eric works as the Director of Technology at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. In his role, Eric leads a team to develop software and engaging interactive exhibits alongside the mission of the museum. In his free time, Eric enjoys camping and dirt biking with his family. Thank you for your time and dedication to the team, Eric!
