From Mr. Spedding: Our Upper School students are amazing! It has been some time since I made a blog entry, but I hope a series of weekly bio sketches highlighting their accomplishments and thoughts on their individual legacies will be of interest to our community.

Math modeling teams take first, third at contest
Congratulations to Keystone's Math Modeling team.

The team of Eric and Zia took first place at Texas A&M - San Antonio's High School Science & Math Modeling Contest, while the duo of Aditi and Derek won third place.

Keystone continues its successful Model UN run
From Dr. Caraway: The Keystone Model UN club continued its  annus mirabilis at the Central Texas Model UN conference at UT-Austin.

For the first time at UT conference, Keystone produced three best delegates and won the award for the best small delegation.

Dr. Wivagg quoted in San Antonio Magazine
Our Director of Learning and Innovation, Dr. Wivagg, is featured in a story in the December issue of San Antonio Magazine.

The story looks at when it's appropriate to incorporate technology in the classroom -- and when it isn't.

At every school where I have been an educator, I have watched with admiration and joy as grandparents, older relatives, senior friends of the family, and children spend time together visiting classes, learning about the children’s school, and just being in the company of one another.

Little School now accepting applications

Do you know someone who might be interested in The Little School of Keystone?

The Little School of Keystone has started the enrollment process for the 2019-2020 school year. If you have a little one or know of someone who might be a good fit for Little Keystone, please apply today. Priority will be given to current families and families of alumni who enroll by the end of  December.

SAMMinistries Clothing Drive continues through Dec. 13

The Foreign Language Club, National Honor Society and 4th Grade Leadership are sponsoring a clothing drive to benefit SAMMinistries .

The drive is accepting any type of wearable clothing of any size. Bring your items to Stevens Hall, Room 205.

SAMMinistries is an interfaith ministry dedicated to helping those who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless.
Junior College Night - Dec. 5

A College Night for 11th graders will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.

It begins with dinner in the lunchroom and then continues at 7 p.m. in the Theater for a presentation that covers all aspects of the college application process including a testing calendar, how to research schools, college interviews, financial aid and more.

All juniors and their parents are encouraged to attend this event which kicks off the college search process for the Class of 2020.
Pizza sale - Dec. 7
The Upper School Student Council is holding a pizza sale on Friday, Dec. 7 during all lunch periods.

Pizza Classics pizza will be on sale for $1.75 per slice and lemonade for 25 cents per cup. 

For students in Grades K-4:   Here's the preorder form .  Please return it with payment to your teacher by Thursday, Dec. 6.

Grades 5-12 can pay in person in the lunchroom.
6th Grade Volunteering at Food Bank - Dec. 15

Attention 6th grade families: The first activity for class families will be a volunteer event on Dec. 15 at the San Antonio Food Bank.

Participants will have an opportunity to work in the San Antonio Urban Farm. Volunteers may work in and between the garden, orchard, or farm. Tasks will vary seasonally but volunteers most frequently aid in planting, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, and mulching.

The volunteering session runs from 8-10 a.m. It's at the Food Bank, 5200 Enrique M Barrera Parkway, near the intersection of State Highway 151 and US Highway 90. If
you're interested, send a note to 6th grade representative Retta Pullman at retta_pullmann@hotmail.com with the number of participants from your family.
Alumni Basketball Game and Social - Dec. 21

Attention Alumni: It’s time for our annual All-Alumni Basketball Game and Social. Join us on Friday, December 21 st  at 6pm for the basketball game in the Keystone Gym then meet us at Bombay Bicycle Club at 7:30 for a social! Please RSVP here by Friday, December 14.
Parent Connection Book Club - Jan. 10

Please join Keystone Counselors Erica Shapiro, Alison Raymer, and Keystone parents on Thursday January 10, 2019 at Lower School Library for a lively discussion of this book, in which the authors challenge us  not  to leave our most meaningful, memorable moments to chance…when we can create them. The discussion begins at 8:30 a.m.

Keystone Night at Spurs game - Jan. 14
