November, 2018 - In This Issue:
From the Desk of Our Executive Director
After a long weekend full of quality time with family, friends, and good food, I am reminded of how grateful and thankful I am to be surrounded by loved ones as we kick off the holiday season. Today especially, on Giving Tuesday, I am spending time reflecting on the support that 4Cs of Alameda County receives today and year-round. We are lucky to work alongside incredibly passionate community leaders and advocates, empowering nonprofits and public agencies, and wonderful supporters like you who all believe in the power of collective impact in helping Alameda County's families thrive. Many of our closest allies are showing their support of 4Cs today by creating their own giving campaigns on Facebook, donating on our website, or sharing with friends and family how 4Cs has impact their lives or the lives of their loved ones. I am touched by every donation, every story, and every family and individual who shares how 4Cs of Alameda County's programs, services, and staff has impacted their lives. Please consider giving to 4Cs of Alameda County and join me in making this #GivingTuesday one to be especially thankful for.

Be Well,

Renee S. Herzfeld

Our Volunteers
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program Seeking Volunteers

Do you like helping people? Do you enjoy serving your community? The n the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program may be just what you are looking for. VITA is a program that involves volunteers from many walks of life to help taxpayers who cannot afford professional tax assistance. For over 1 6  years, 4Cs' VITA program has helped low-income families prepare and file  Federal and State  taxes  for free . VITA volunteers prepare income tax returns and provide information and referral to programs and services available at 4Cs.

There are many volunteer opportunities with VITA, even if you are not interested in preparing taxes. We need tax preparers, greeters, and translators (we are especially looking for volunteers who are fluent in Spanish, Mandarin, Punjabi, Farsi and American Sign Language). Volunteers must attend training sessions and devote 3-5 hours per week from January to April 15, 2019. Opportunities are available in Hayward. If you are interested in learning more about VITA volunteer opportunities, please contact Joni Chantigian, VITA Site Coordinator at (510) 690-2150 or  [email protected] to set up a VITA information meeting.
