Misson of Peace heading to India Dec. 2010-Jan 2021 Mission of Peace is headed to India from the end of Dec. 2020 through mid-Jan. 2021. Updates from UNY Conference There are changes that will affect Upper New York churches and employees in the new year.   Effective Dec. 31, New York State's hourly minimum wage rate is increasing to $11.10. All employers in the Upper New York Conference must pay non-exempt employees minimum wage regardless of how many people they employ.  Click Here  to read more about the wage increase.   Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, New York State (NYS) Paid Family Leave is increasing to 55% benefit and 10 weeks for eligible employees.  Click here to learn more about the updates and changes.   Due to a new law, every employer in New York State is required to establish and distribute a sexual harassment prevention policy.  The policy can be distributed in writing or electronically. Employers are encouraged to have employees acknowledge receipt of the policy, and to  post a copy of the policy where employees can easily access it.    Every employer is also required to provide  employees with sexual harassment prevention training by October 9, 2019. The annual benefit Storehouse Christmas Treasures Sale at 

Asbury First United Methodist Church will take place this year 

on Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2 at 

1040 East Ave. Rochester, NY. 

Visit many talented craftspeople and artisans for a wonderful variety of one-of-a-kind gifts and treasures such as fine art, jewelry, photographic cards and prints, pottery, Christmas ornaments, and much more! 

Hours are Saturday, December 1, from 10 am-4 pm and 

Sunday, December 2, from 9 am-2 pm. 

Get some holiday shopping done while benefiting the important work of the Storehouse, which provides home goods, clothing, and more to over 6,000 households across Rochester each year.

ATTENTION:  Your help requested with a  Youth Survey

Peter Lagueras is the Director of Youth Ministries at Rush United Methodist Church, and he is a Genesee Valley Co-District Lay Leader. 

He will be leading a workshop on youth ministry at a spring event, "Informed to Transform". In preparation for his workshop, Peter would like as many youth as possible from across the conference to fill out the following survey. Please answer each question as honestly and completely as possible. Your real responses will help Peter to better prepare and lead his workshop in February. 

I would like to emphasize that this survey is anonymous with the 

hopes that it will allow the youth the freedom to faithfully answer 

these questions.  They will have to log in to fill out the survey, but that is only to limit one response per person, no one will see their emails.

Order of Elders Gathering

All Upper New York (UNY) elders are invited to join UNY Area Resident Bishop Mark J. Webb as he welcomes Bishop Grant Hagiya from the California-Pacific Annual Conference on December 6, 2018 from 

9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for an Order of Elders Gathering at

 the Holiday Inn in Liverpool.

 

This will be a time of worship, learning, and fellowship and qualifies 

for .5 CEU. The registration cost is $25 and includes lunch. 

The registration deadline is November 28.
