Palm Beach Spending Cuts Still in the Works, New Manager Says
An initiative to cut costs remains on the table, but the town staff is retooling its approach under new Town Manager Kirk Blouin.
A Town Council meeting that was scheduled for Friday on the Comprehensive Review of Town Operations was canceled. A March 5 meeting on the operations review is still scheduled for 1 p.m. at Town Hall.

Palm Beachers to Court: Reconsider Dismissal of Rec Center Lawsuit
Two residents are asking a court to reconsider its dismissal of their lawsuit seeking to block construction of a new recreation center. They have filed a motion for "rehearing and clarification," asserting the judges "overlooked or misapprehended key points of law and facts" when dismissing their case.

DOT: Flagler Bridge Malfunction Caused by Error
Previous Problem Fixed
The Flagler Memorial Bridge has been up longer-than-normal twice this week, leaving drivers caught in traffic while trying to enter or leave Palm Beach. The latest interruption occurred Friday morning when an operator caused a malfunction, said Angel Streeter Gardner, the community outreach specialist for the bridge project.

Dolphins Owner Discusses Football, Charity at United Way Breakfast
Football and charity collided Monday morning at The Breakers when Dolphins owner Stephen Ross spoke at the Town of Palm Beach United Way Business and Professional Breakfast. Ross, who is also the owner and chairman of The Related Cos., said he likes to support the United Way because of the breadth of support it provides to people throughout the community.

Civic Association to Distribute Free Reusable Grocery Bags at Publix on Friday, March 2
In a program to help the environment, the Palm Beach Civic Association will distribute free reusable grocery bags at the Town of Palm Beach Publix on Friday, March 2nd. "Our goal is to raise the consciousness about the dangers of plastic bags and get as many plastic bags out of circulation as possible, said Ned Barnes, president of the Civic Association. "One way to do that is to get the public to use reusable bags. We are providing over 2,000 bags and are getting them to shoppers."
