Graduate Students - Nutshell Games registration is open!
The Nutshell Games will take place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, October 27, on the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre stage, in conjunction with the Virginia Tech Science Festival .

Graduate student contestants will have 90 seconds to engage the audience and describe their research. All contestants will receive professional video recordings of their presentations. Three winners will each receive a $500 cash prize. And an enthralled audience gets to learn about lots of exciting research!

New undergraduate course with spring break study abroad

New Course Announcement: BIOL/FiW 3954 Darwin's Galapagos: Evolution in the Anthropocene is a new course that will be offered by Drs. Ignacio Moore, William Hopkins and Peter Graham in Spring 2019.

New faculty grant program available to scale undergrad. research - Due Dec. 3
Grant funding between $10,000 and $15,000 will be awarded to individual faculty, teams of faculty, or departments, to facilitate the development of novel programs that aim to scale undergraduate research, through projects such as, but not limited to, course embedded undergraduate research experiences, scaffolded mentoring to facilitate large-scale research projects, and development of a comprehensive summer undergraduate research program.

Federal Agency Panel Session
Monday October 8th
6:00 - 7:30 pm
Fralin Hall Auditorium
The session will feature four panelists from different federal government agencies – the FBI, NSA, EPA, and the USDA (US Forest Service).

The first hour of the event will feature a question and answer session involving panelists; then will shift to an informal networking reception at 7:00pm where students will have the opportunity to mingle with the federal agency representatives over light refreshments.
