ESI partnered with the Pennsylvania Economic Development Association (PEDA) and Fourth Economy to complete a study that details the economic impact of Economic Development Corporations (EDCs) throughout the state. We found that Economic Development Agencies total economic output in an average year was $15.6 billion. O ur findings revealed that every dollar that EDCs invest in their community through construction activity leverages $44 into the community from federal and private sources.

Community Development & Affordable Housing Round table
We hosted a Community Development and Affordable Housing Roundtable with our senior advisors Angela Dow-Burton, Cori Packard Beasley, Kevin Cafferky, Phil Peterson, and Sidney Wong. ESI Senior Vice President Lee Huang moderated the discussion and Directors Brittany Forman and Gina Lavery also attended. Important topics concerning community development were discussed along with opportunities that could positively affect Philadelphia neighborhoods.
ESI Principal Stephen Mullin and ESI Director Brittany Forman wrote a feature article for Delaware Lawyer Publication's Spring Edition on "Creating a Sense of Place: Challenges of economic development in small to mid-sized cities". Check out the magazine.

We bid farewell to former director, Alison Shott. We wish her the best luck in her new position at the Federal Reserve Bank. 
Brittany Forman presented at the John Hopkins University on May 16. 
ESI is pleased to announce  Alix Sullivan  as a new analyst. Prior to working at ESI, Alix was an intern with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia
ESI is pleased to welcome  Nicola Coakley  as an analyst.  She brings a background in impact evaluation in the nonprofit sector and has supported numerous social impact initiatives
ESI is also welcomes Michele Plaugic to the team as an analystMichele worked in a variety of fields, including land use and transportation planning, solar farm development, and public health research and evaluation. 
David Boonin , a senior advisor at ESI,  published his work "A greener economy" in the Philadelpha Inquirer's Dialogue Section on May 9. 
Elmore Alexander, a senior advisor at ESI, shared his insight on eCampus News on May 20.  
Stephen Mullin   moderated " Energy Pathways: Clean Energy Models for the Global Market"  panel at the Chamber of Commerce on May 29. At the panel, a series of industry frontrunners offered insights into the most viable pathways to decarbonization, the advancement towards electrification, and the role of natural gas in establishing a low-carbon environment.
Rebecca DeJoseph  presented ESI ThoughtLab's project "Smarter Cities 2025" to the  Urban Land Institute  Philadelphia South Jersey Council.
Steve Wray  spoke at the  Driving the Future of Mobility Summit on Finance and Policy  on May 21. Steve also spoke at the " Economics of Mobility " at the GVFTMA Annual Meeting on May 20.  In addition, Steve presented at Florida City County Managers Association Annual Conference in Orlando on May 30.
