EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) invites you to a webinar to kick-off the process of updating EPA's Port Emissions Inventory Guidance. This technical guidance describes the methodologies used for preparation of port-related emissions inventories. This guidance update is one of the many technical resources that may be valuable to stakeholders of the  EPA Ports Initiative .

Background

EPA last published the current Port Emissions Inventory Guidance in 2009. Since that time, additional information and methods have become available. For example, EPA's MOVES model had not yet been developed when the existing guidance was issued, and its predecessor did not have the same capabilities. In addition, lessons learned and methods developed from the EPA-Port Everglades Partnership will be incorporated into EPA's updated guidance. This future guidance update was also included in recommendations published in the   Ports Initiative Workgroup Report from the Mobile Sources Technical Review Subcommittee (MSTRS)  of the Clean Air Act Advisory Committee.

Goals of the Guidance Update
  • Reflect new data sources and model availability
  • Reflect lessons learned from practical experience
  • Integrate MSTRS Workgroup recommendations
  • Improve guidance document structure and usability
  • Inform future inventory development in the United States
