LIBRARY CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR OPENING HOURS 2018

Due to the ongoing redevelopment of the Mitcham Library, and the more limited resources and services available at Hawthorn, this year the Hawthorn Community Centre Library will be CLOSED over the Christmas to New Year period, as listed below. Blackwood Library will remain open during this time except for Public Holidays and other closures, as listed below.

Saturday 22 December 10.00am - 4.00pm

Sunday 23 December 2.00pm - 5.00pm

Monday 24 December 10.00am - 2.00pm (Early Closure)

Tuesday 25 December - Wednesday 26 December CLOSED

Thursday 27 December - Sunday 30 December Open with normal hours

Monday 31 December 10.00am - 4.00pm (Early Closure)

Tuesday 1 January CLOSED

Wednesday 2 January Reopens 10.00am with normal hours

Blackwood Library will be closed in the event of the declaration of an Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger day.

Saturday 22 December - Sunday 23 December Open with normal hours

Monday 24 December 10.00am - 2.00pm (Early Closure)

Tuesday 25 December - Tuesday 1 January CLOSED

Wednesday 2 January Reopens 10.00am with normal hours

After hours return chutes will be unavailable at Hawthorn Community Centre Library during the closure period 25 December - 1 January.

Please be aware that there will be closure times over January as we relocate into the new library. We will advise you as soon as they are confirmed.

MITCHAM LIBRARY FAMILY FUN DAY

Mitcham Library | Saturday 16 February | 10am - 3pm

Celebrate with us the opening of the new Mitcham Library. O ur community is invited to a free family fun day.

There will be live music, sausage sizzles, climbing wall, library tours, children's activities, meet and greet community groups, face painting and much more!

Further details will follow but keep the day free!

JANUARY FREE EVERYDAY CRAFTS

Looking for something to do with the kids?

Visit the library during opening hours and get creative with these free kids crafts.

Crafts require parent supervision in the library. Ask staff for the materials to make your amazing creations

EVENTS, PROGRAMS AND GROUPS IN THE NEW YEAR

Early in 2019 we will be very busy moving into the newly redeveloped Mitcham Library. We will not have any events, programs or regular groups running at Mitcham Library or Hawthorn Community Centre Library during January. We look forward to recommencing our groups and programs in the exciting new facilities at Mitcham Library in February 2019.

Blackwood Library will continue as programmed.

HOME LIBRARY

Christmas can often be a time when people living alone might need help with accessing library items. Do you know someone who is unable to visit the library due to health reasons? We know how important it is for people to have a continuing supply of library materials.

Supported by our team of wonderful volunteers, we deliver lovingly selected library material to people in their homes.

This is a free service. Please ask for Jen when you ring on 8372 8255

COMMUNITY GROUPS MEETING DATES

New 2019 dates for all groups are now available.

STORYTIME AND BABYTIME

The last Storytime sessions for 2018 are Wednesday 19 December at Blackwood and Thursday 20 December at Hawthorn.

They will restart on 29 January at Blackwood and 31 January in the new Mitcham Library.

The last Babytime sessions will be 12 December at Hawthorn and 13 December at Blackwood.

They will restart on 6 February in the new Mitcham Library and 7 February at Blackwood Library.

We would love you to continue visiting us however and feel free to burst into song so that the staff can join in with you!

LIBRARY CLOSURE REMINDER

Blackwood Library closes on all extreme and catastrophic fire warning days.

Return chutes will automatically close when full.
