A Message from John Lovelace, President and CEO of the Flying U Ranch:

We have an exciting year lined up for 2019. However, before we say goodbye to the season we thought in this newsletter we would look back at some of the highlights of 2018. A special shout out to the staff who worked so hard to make it all happen. Also, a warm thanks to all the guests who support us by making the ranch part of their lives every year.

Here at the Ranch, we are proud to stay that we have and maintain a 5 Star rating!

2018 Recap

2018 was an amazing season. It started with our Bluegrass Camp and it was non stop right into the wrangler week in October. We had lots of familiar faces but we also had a record number of brand new visitors. We had guests from all over the world too - 14 countries in all, including Australia, Japan, China, Germany, Switzerland and France. Our newly added activities were a hit among the guests with many people returning early from the ride so that they could head out to the dock for some tubing or to head up to the archery field.

Wild West Adventure Camp

Our first annual Wild West Adventure Camp was a huge success.  The camp is a totally new family concept based on a parent and child summer camp. The kids enjoyed a full supervised camp during the day with wide range of activities from learning to ride to barrel racing, canoe lessons, archery, hiking, talent show and more.  Parents were able to enjoy the day riding, reading or lounging at the waterfront. In the evening, parents and kids hung out together around the camp fire or other free time activities. All the camp kids made new friends throughout the week and most of them are already booked next year!

With the camp now being 80% full for 2019 do not hesitate to book for your family. Our 2019 Wild West Adventure Camp will take place from July 1 - 5, 2019.

Scouts Canada

We were very excited to welcome the boys and girls from Scouts Canada to the ranch this year. They camped out at our beautiful new Spring Lake site where they got to enjoy the full camping experience. They had a busy week filled with activities with trail rides, canoeing, hiking, archery and even did a survival night up in the Wilkinson pasture.

Weddings

We were very lucky to be able to host Clare and Reis Bush with their families and friends to celebrate their wedding day! The weather was spectacular and with all the activities everyone had a blast! We look forward to seeing the happy couple again at the ranch in the future. Congratulations Clare and Reis!

School Trips

Each year we welcome several schools to the ranch in the Spring. Bringing new groups of kids to the ranch is one of our favourite times of the year. There is nothing better than watching kids discover the joy of horseback riding and the bonds they create with their horses over the week. Duchess Park, Vancouver Technical Secondary and St. Michaels University School all made their annual trips to the ranch this year and left with a lifetime of new memories.

Wrangler Report

Our wranglers were kept busy this summer working with our wonderful herd. The horses had a great season and had an amazing time exploring the trails with our guests. They have now settled into their winter pasture and are enjoying their vacation time. We have added some new horses to the herd that will be ready to hit the trails with our guests in the Spring.
We are excited to introduce you to the following horses for our new season in 2019:
Poppy
Pearl
Rain
Charm
Breeze
Boots
Casper
Cinnamon
Dapple
Ted
Simon
Silk

JRFM Contest

We tried something new this year with THE Country Music Station in the Vancouver area, 93.7 JRFM.  We did two back to back promotions and it was a huge success drawing new guests up to the ranch from all over the lower mainland. You can be sure we will be doing it again in 2019 so expect to hear all about the Flying U on Vancouver's #1 Country station!
