Your Community Brief from Oak Ridge High School
Friday, November 30, 2018

This is our first community brief since the Thanksgiving break and I hope it finds you having enjoyed a pleasant holiday with family and friends. As you will see in our calendar below, we are moving into a month with a number of special sporting and performing arts events. I encourage all members of our school community to circle one or two dates on the calendar and participate. These special events are suitable for the entire family and I promise you, everyone will have a wonderful time!

After today we only have three school weeks left for 2018 and for the first semester. These are among some of the most important weeks of instruction for 2018-2019 as it will not be long into 2019 before we begin greater preparation for the annual Florida Standards Assessments (FSA). Therefore, I ask that all of our Pioneers make every effort to be at school on time each day during December.

Have a nice weekend and, as always, thank you for your continued support.

With Pioneer Pride,

Ms. Jennifer Bellinger
Principal

Teacher Spotlight
Meet Mrs. Veronica Lubin Lewis, MTSS Coordinator . . .

Mrs. Lubin Lewis, MTSS Coordinator
Mrs. Lewis was raised in New Jersey and came to Florida when she was 19 to attend the University of Central Florida where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Communication and has been at Oak Ridge for over 8 years. She began her career at ORHS as a freshman experience teacher and knew she wanted to reach more students.  Shortly after, she was promoted to dean and built such positive relationships with students that this year she was promoted to our MTSS coordinator.

As the MTSS coordinator she troubleshoots many different situations and puts interventions in place. Students feel comfortable with Mrs. Lewis and appreciate all she does on campus to ensure that their needs are met.  Last year she started the KICS mentoring program - Keeping it Classy Sisterhood. KICS empowers young women both socially and academically transforming a student's mindset - teaching them their worth and holding them accountable.

Mrs. Lewis puts her heart and soul into every project or assignment that crosses her path. The administration, faculty, staff, parents, and students are very appreciative of her and all that she does!

Congratulations to Kathleen "Kat" Gordon!
