IN THIS ISSUE
Please read the April 1, 2020 Christ Church COVID-19 Update here. It contains important information regarding the shelter-at-home restrictions that will go in effect on Friday, April 3, 2020.

Rector's Ramblings

Without making light of our situation, I do think there have been some upsides to this pandemic and its social distancing guidelines. In fact, it helps to find blessings where we can. One of them, for me, is that I can sit on my porch in pajama pants mid-morning, writing and making calls. That just doesn't happen, normally. Don't get me wrong - I'll be more than ready to get back to normal, as soon as we can do it safely. This pandemic is deadly, and on top of that, is wreaking havoc with jobs, income, and a host of other unpleasant side effects. But I have to start somewhere when looking for things to celebrate, and today pajama pants made the list.

Worship

Worship This Weekend

Please join us on Palm Sunday, when we will be livestreaming the Passion of the Palms at 9:15 am on the Christ Church Facebook pageDue to the upcoming shelter-at-home restrictions, we will be offering our Palm Sunday service live on Facebook only, and later on the Christ Church, Frederica Episcopal You Tube page (a link will be sent via email).

However, we  still want YOU to be an active part of the Palm Sunday worship experience, particularly the Procession of the Palms. Please gather palm fronds from your yard, or pick up palm branches from distribution points on the island, where they will be available until shelter-in-place restrictions begin at noon on Friday. Once you've secured your palm, we'd like for you to take a photo or video of yourself waving your branch or frond and send it to Fr. Tom at [email protected] by Friday morning, so he can add you to the virtual procession for Sunday's service. It's that easy!

Locations to pick up palms are listed below. The palms will be left in buckets, where you can pick them up and still maintain social distancing. We look forward to seeing you in the Procession of the Palms on Sunday!

God Loves You No Matter What!
Our young Sunday school students were recently given the homework assignment to create a picture of something that reminds them that God loves them.  Thank you for the bright and beautiful artwork Laura Meeks, Reid Williams and Sam Taylor!
Kids at Home

Christ Church children and youth are finding all kinds of ways to stay busy and have fun with their families during social distancing.

Our youth and children have been out of school for nearly three weeks and those weeks will soon be turning into months, as shelter-in-place becomes the order of business in the state of Georgia. Mother Katie continues to meet with our youth by using Zoom and offers Kidurgy every Sunday at 10:00 am on the Christ Church Facebook page. She is currently working on plans to make Easter-at-home a very special time for our children and youth, so stay tuned for details. We miss our youth and children's sweet faces!

The Backpack Buddies Have Done It Again!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who have contributed to keeping our Backpack Buddies program going, despite the tremendous obstacles we now face with food shortages and the difficulties of packing in small socially-distanced groups. The generous donations of food from our parish and the tireless packing by our Buddies, along with additional volunteers, have allowed us to pack hundreds of bags for our Backpack Buddy students in the last two weeks! We cannot thank you enough for all you've done. As the State of Georgia shelter-in-place restrictions take effect, we're not sure yet how they will affect the Backpack Buddies program, but will keep you informed as soon as we know. Again, thank you, Christ Church friends, for all your efforts in keeping our young buddies from going hungry!
Helping the Community in Times of Need
We invite all parishioners to support community relief efforts as they are able.

Firebox - a relief organization here in Glynn County, started by the folks as Southern Soul to support restaurant workers in need. Many restaurant works are or will soon be out of work.  https://ssbbqfirebox.com/mission/
