THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
"HOW FAR HAVE WE COME? WOMEN'S RIGHTS IN A CHANGING WORLD"
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, January 26 at 10:15 a.m. in Sanctuary

This sermon topic was chosen by Nancy Dietrich, winner of the sermon at the 2019 UUCUC Auction. The year 2020 is the 100th anniversary of voting rights for women in the United States. Where are we now, 100 years later? What about the lives of women and girls around the world, and the experience of trans women? Unitarians and Universalists have a long history of supporting women’s suffrage, women’s leadership, birth control, and the right to choose. What is our role now, in these times?” Our own Emily McKown will be singing.

Thanks to Erich Adickes for setting up the candles this morning and thanks to all the Worship Associates.

A sorrow shared by Kathy Frizzell
With sadness I read of Audrey Brown's death earlier this month. She was a former RE Director here at UUCUC in the 1990s.

A sorrow shared by Jenny Hunt
Sorrow for the devastation in Australia - there is a giant void in our interconnected web with the animals.

A sorrow shared by Kyle Kroha
Please keep my friend Sue in your thoughts/energy/prayers. She is a NHS nurse with a disabled husband. She is suffering from acute respiratory and sinus distress. May we claim and affirm good health, swift healing and cheerful spirits for her and husband.

A joy shared by Kathy Richards
I got a new job! Writing and editing for chambanamoms. Maybe some of you can help us launch "chambanaseniors...." in the future!
SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS
UUCUC Shared Offering.  Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive half of our weekly Sunday plate collections, designated checks written to UUCUC with organization's name written in the memo line, cash envelopes designated for "Shared Offering" within the specified month and on-line donations through our  GIVE WEBPAGE .

During the month of January, we will support Champaign County Bailout Coalition. No one should be in jail because they can’t pay their bond. Your donation to the January Shared Offering will allow CCBC to pay the bail amount of $500 or less for people unable to afford it. Approximately 70% of people in our jails at any given time have not been convicted of any crime. Many of those individuals could be released, but they can’t afford to pay the bail amount that the Judge has set. CCBC believes that jail is the worst place that a person can be. Read more....
