Another year passes; a new year begins. For the United Methodist Church (UMC), 2019 was a year of turmoil. And going forward in 2020, it most likely will be a year of decisions. The next session of the General Conference will be in May 2020. There has been a lot of information going around regarding what is going to happen and the future of the UMC. Some information is accurate; some is rumor.
We have started "Beginning Conversation" each Wednesday evening, at 7:00, after Wednesday Night Supper in the Fellowship Hall.
This is a time for discussion, taking your questions, and giving what information is known and accurate. We will make every attempt to get answers for your questions from each week.
Everyone here at Senoia UMC is encouraged and welcome to attend Beginning Conversation. We may be at different points in our journey and have different opinions, but we all have one thing in common: we love God and our church. There is one thing each and everyone of us can do: pray, for our church and leaders.
Come and join in on Beginning Conversation. You don’t need to sign up to attend every week. Come as you are available. The discussion will be led by Pastor Ashley and Barb Combs. If you have any questions, please see or contact Pastor Ashley or Barb.

SUMC and the Senoia Optimists are co-sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive on Monday, February 3rd, from 1 to 6pm.
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Donors will receive a FREE gift of special coupons from a number of local Senoia businesses, including new ones that were introduced earlier this year, the Senoia Optimists will offer their "famous" grilled cheese sandwiches, a feeling of gratification knowing that you've made a special effort to help someone
There is a critical need for all blood types. Donors may come to the church anytime between 1 and 6 p.m. on Monday. Although “walk-ins” are welcomed, donors may either sign up online at http://www.redcrossblood.org/ or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Saturday, February 1 – District Training Event, 9 -11:30am, Fayetteville First UMC.
The Annual District Training Event will begin with a “Breakfast Church”, which will be a Fresh Expressions workshop following the format of the popular Dinner Church.
Following the breakfast workshop, participants will then choose to participate in 1 of 8 training sessions offered from 10:15-11:30am. Because we will be serving breakfast, we are asking participants to pre-register by January 27 so that we can get an accurate count for food.

We have a new small group starting. If you have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar and felt like you were too old, not musical enough, don’t read music: this is for you!
Our very own Hal Sewell has graciously agreed to lead this group. If you’ve ever heard him sing and play in church on any Sunday, then you know first-hand how very talented he is.
Once there is a clear idea of the number of interested people and other logistical things, we’ll get more information out to you. If you have any other questions, see Hal after the 11:00 service or call at 770-599-6097.
