Reflection....

We Lift Up Our Hearts
by Richard Fewkes, retired UU minister

For the sun and the dawn which we did not create;
For the moon and the evening which we did not make;

For food which we plant but cannot grow;
For friends and loved ones
we have not earned and  cannot buy;

For this gathered company which welcomes us as we are,
          from wherever we have come;

For all gifts which come from a source beyond ourselves,
Gifts of life and love and friendship

We lift up our hearts in thanks this day.

New Board of Trustees member:  Karl Keinath was elected to fill an open position on the Board of Trustees through June.  Karl was recommended by the Leadership Development Committee to serve and elected by the Board at the November 13 meeting.  The opening occurred when Jane Fochtman accepted a position in Germany for the next six months.  We appreciate Jane's service on the Board for the past five months and wish her well on her opportunity.  Karl was elected Treasurer by the Board replacing Jane in that position as well.

Safe Harbor Volunteer Sign-up continues:
UUCGT is providing the volunteers for the Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter during the week from Saturday evening, December 8 through Saturday morning, December 15.
There will be a sign up table, manned by Rick Walter, in the gathering space after the service this Sunday.  Volunteer positions are available for those who wish to furnish, prepare and serve dinner, act as evening or overnight hosts, serve breakfast or help with morning cleaning duties.
We still have over 30 of our volunteer positions to fill and two weeks left to get volunteers.  Please come and sign up to give a few hours of your time to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

End Note...

 Gratitude is not a passive response to something
we  have been given...gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that  lives within and without us.
