On behalf of the Board of Directors, Ontario East is pleased to announce that Dylan Boles will be the incoming Executive Director. Dylan grew up in Renfrew County and states "he is pleased to be returning to Eastern Ontario". Having worked for Global Affairs Canada, the Australian High Commission and the Consulate General of Canada, Dylan brings to the position an understanding of marketing a region for investment attraction and events coordination. Dylan is also an entrepreneur, running a small business with his wife. Dylan has a Bachelor of Commerce and Master's in Business Administration. He begins his tenure with Ontario East on December 10th. Welcome Dylan!
On Thursday, November 29th, Ontario East will be in Toronto to meet with Corporate Real Estate Executives in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with the purpose of promoting market opportunities in Eastern Ontario and with engaging professional service providers in discussions to establish relationships and opportunity awareness for future initiatives.
And a final note from Bonnie: It has been my honour and pleasure to have served as the Executive Director for Ontario East since 2014. Working closely with you as members and economic development stakeholders has been a wonderful experience. As happy as I am to be moving onto the next chapter of my life, I will miss working with such an energetic and competent group of EDO's that are passionate about Ontario East. I know that you will give Dylan a warm welcome and the same support and encouragement that you have always given me. Please keep in touch!

Living and working in the community of Pangnirtung in the Nunavut territory in northern Canada, Ryan Oliver realized one of the significant educational deficits in many Indigenous communities was a lack of computer training, especially in the crucial areas of coding, software and game development. Understanding the importance these skills would be in improving the economic and community development opportunities for those communities, and especially for enhancing educational opportunities for their young people, Oliver rounded up several tech buddies and began a humble little non-profit enterprise called
Pinnguaq.
